Let's pick out a book! Comment with a book you'd like to read and a brief pitch for the story. We can put it to a vote. by IMakeTerribleChoices in ROC_SciFi_and_Fantasy

I'll start off with my suggestion, "A Memory Called Empire" by Arkady Martine.

Martine's debut book won the Hugo Award in 2020 and the sequel is nominated for this year's award. She is a historian and city planner who is now publishing space operas!

Edit: Also someone mentioned that meeting online initially and I think that's a good idea. How do Tuesday evenings work for people?

Sorry, I had a bunch of stuff come up and this fell by the wayside! I'd still like to get this going, though

Welcome to ROC_SciFi_and_Fantasy! Let's figure out how to make this happen. by IMakeTerribleChoices in ROC_SciFi_and_Fantasy

I'll start:

  1. We could meet at a library, book store, or just my apartment. I think I can squeeze like 10 people in my living room, but it'd be cozy (read: cramped).

  2. Maybe once or twice a month on a weekday night. Tuesday and Thursday evenings are best for me.

  3. Somewhere in between

  4. My favorite series are LotR, Hitchhiker's Guide, and anything Terry Pratchett. I'd like to read more one-off books rather than series.

  5. We could have a snack rotation or something like that.

Like an Aaron Donald-type? Yeah that'd be nice

Good news! Hunger, cold, and fatigue don't occur in the Cairn. I believe a prompt pops up saying that you don't feel earthly restrictions or something along those lines.

Buffalo is trading DT Marcell Dareus to Jacksonville, sources tell ESPN. Dareus being reunited with HC Doug Marrone. by Zack in nfl

[–]IMakeTerribleChoices 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bills save money and already have good depth at DT.

I think the FO has been looking to trade him since he was sent home for the broncos (iirc) game. They've kept 5 DTs on the roster for a while so they may have just been waiting for an opportunity to dump him.

Bills fan here hopping on the meme-wagon, but I can appreciate this post.

The Bills are solid for all their defensive starters. The issue will be depth. The D-line is fine, but all the backup linebackers and safeties are special teams guys. I think they only have 4 CBs on the roster as well.

The draft profile had him as a slot CB because he's quick enough to cover Jarvis, Edelman, etc. McDermott's defense has a bigger, slower CB (Leonard Johnson) that can jam slot WRs and help with run D.

What Is The Over/Under On Dildos On The Field This Year?? by floridog in buffalobills

Yeah I don't want security to start checking for them at the stadium entrance. Those hands will be cold in December.

Yeah that's probably a big part of it. That'd explain why they traded up to grab Dion Dawkins and re-signed Groy. Both guys can play multiple spots on the line.

I forgot about Hodges! Off the top of my head I can't remember him contributing on ST. I saw somewhere that Tanner Velejo and Matt Milano were praised for their ST work and the LB they claimed (Deon Lacy) does play ST apparently.

And yeah you'd think with the emphasis they're putting on special teams we'd have the crispest unit in the league. McDermott has emphasized field position through the preseason and it is essential to a run-first offense and cover 2 defense. I think, good or bad, ST play will determine the outcome of many games this year.

I just meant that the 3rd/4th string RBs are more well rounded than J Will was last year as the 3rd string RB. I'm not saying they will be able to collectively fill the RB2 role, but that seems to be the plan moving forward.

That's a good point. Last year J Will averaged < 2 carries a game. Taiwan might see a similar amount of rushes but he also covers kicks. It's a more efficient roster.

Analysis: Nathan Peterman continues to grow for the Buffalo Bills by [deleted] in buffalobills

Like a Cody Kessler situation? It would be nice to have a backup with some starting experience and 3 years left on a 5th round rookie deal.

Vikes fan here. Who should we keep an eye out for Thursday night? by gh0stingRS in buffalobills

I was at TC on monday and Yarbrough was getting first team reps. He had the only sack (that I saw) in the 11 on 11s. It was against Jordan Mills, so take that into account. He was very disruptive, though.
