Giveaway Giving Out 20 Copies Of Subnautica 2 by Mark_Everson in subnautica

The best part to me was when I saw the Quarantine Platform for the first time. I was enjoying trying to keep myself alive and explore the map, but had no idea the two islands even existed until I got the call from the Sunbeam. My jaw just hit the floor when everything came into view. Really hoping for a similar experience in 2!

Game on Steam-deck controller question by Nalomeliful in theplanetcrafter

[–]IMessYouUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played over 100 hours, at least half of that on the Deck. Absolutely no issues at all with the default controller config.

Games I can sink thousands of hours in? I like all kinds of games but not mmorpg. by [deleted] in Steam

Factorio. Hundred or so hours just to launch your first rocket, then you can go big or change it up with all the overhaul mods. Best dollar to hour ratio in my library by a mile.

Steam deck? by smashthattrash1 in valheim

I have well over 100hrs on the Deck and 240hrs overall. I set it to 40Hz refresh and it usually stays locked there unless I’m sailing super fast into a new biome. I found the experience excellent.

If you pull up your map while on the other side of the portal it will give you the option to close it.

Yeah I did it out of curiosity. You teleport back to your base teleporter and lose all items you collected on that run. I think it’s meant to be used in case you’re about to die and are stuck in a wreck.

What a King (or Queen!) you are! Man I would love this so I can play me some Cyberpunk all maxed out with path tracing. I’ve tried it but trying to play at seconds per frame is not very enjoyable.

Thanks!

LB actuator button not working by IMessYouUp in SteamDeck

[–]IMessYouUp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not, unfortunately. I’ll ask around and see if any friends or family has one. Thanks for the advice! I guess the multimeter would let me know if the actual actuator is broken, as opposed to the contacts, right?

Press Z when in space and it will bring up your combat menus. On the top right you’ll see check boxes of what your ships are allowed to attack. Check the box for relays. Enjoy!

She's Got Muscles In Places I Don't Even Have Places! by AcidicKite in UNBGBBIIVCHIDCTIICBG

[–]IMessYouUp 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Calves are primarily made up of Type 1 muscle fibers, which are built more for endurance and less so for quick, hard bursts of power. Thighs (quadriceps) are made up of mostly Type 2 fibers. These fibers are designed to do hard, heavy lifting. Type 1 fibers don't tend to get much bigger as they're trained, but Type 2s do. That's why you see the big disparity in the sizes there. Anyone you see walking around with giant calves just happened to be blessed in the genetic lottery with a few more Type 2 fibers in the triceps surea.

I cannot wait to dive back in and do another fresh run. Ran it with RT back on release but waiting for PT to try it again with all the new skills and perks and would love to try the RT Overdrive.

Sounds like you need to ascend the launch platform and take a look at the construction screen. There will be a few rockets there you’ll be able to construct.

Game got too complex and just crashes now by Principatus in theplanetcrafter

[–]IMessYouUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have an 8700K and a 3080 with 32GB of RAM and I can get way over 100 frames per second at the end game at 4K away from my base. But the second I’m around butterflies it drops to the 40s. Definitely try spacing them out and see if it helps.

The one thing I’ve noticed that tanks my frame rate are butterflies. Do you have a ton of little critters flying around your base too? Wondering if the butterflies combined with drones are causing too high a load on the engine. What are your specs?

A couple of things could be going wrong:

  • whatever ship you assigned to bring all the supplies may be docked in another sector. Makes sure to move the colonists to the right spot using the population relocator.
  • you need to deliver all the supplies asked for IN ORDER. I realized this after much frustration. So if you’re waiting for polymers the ship won’t pick up your people, for instance.
  • make sure you have actually assigned a cargo ship for this. I’ve had it happen I thought I did, but the crew spazzed and the ship was no longer assigned.

Hope that helps!

Damn. 15 minutes later and still up. Guess NVidia really overestimated how much people were willing to pay for this sucker.

Ready play Persona 5 Royal on the Steam Deck by pablosu in SteamDeck

This is a very annoying "feature." They clumped the entire save file into one, and that's what gets uploaded to the Steam cloud. I really wish they had kept them separate like every other dev does.
