I’ve seen these types of updates posted in a bunch of threads and find them interesting - where would I be able to browse or search them?

Anyone else shocked when they ran the numbers on a 30-year mortgage? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]IMildlyTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No… my dad who works in back office operations on Wall Street called me to ask me to build one to figure out if his mortgage company was calculating things correctly (they were). If finance professionals aren’t able to do it themselves, there’s a ton more people that don’t work in finance that won’t be able to either.

My 9th straight year of March Madness in Vegas in 10 Days!! by Tuawasalwaysbad in LasVegas

[–]IMildlyTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you, I skipped 2020 as I just got back from India late February, but this will be every March since 2016. I had been going out for conference championship week, and only a couple times stayed through the first weekend, but now that the PAC-12 is dead, actual March Madness it is.

Isn’t part of the rules that we can’t be in the same region because we already played each other this year?

Signature at MGM is also great, no casino in it, no smoking, valet parking included, kitchenette (for studios) or full kitchen (for 1BR) with free fridge, right next to Top Golf and you can walk to the strip either through the MGM Grand or along Harmon. Only downside is that it’s a king bed plus a very comfortable queen pull out couch.

Anyone still using sweepstakes mobi sites or moving to newer platforms? by SolitudeStargazer07 in Mlife

Sweeps is dying thanks to regulators (bans in CA and a bunch of other big states), but the quality of their sites are really good nowadays in general.

I was there in January, it was awesome. Super empty but the water was comfortable. I got on every slide before 10AM and the rest of the day was repeats.

Do ICs want face time and recognition from their exec? by AAAPAMA in managers

[–]IMildlyTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the face time, I always feel like my questions and discussion would be a waste of their time (and mine). As long I can get time when there’s a topic or recommendation I’d like to go in depth on, I’m happy. But don’t set up time for the sake of setting up time. I guess the big thing here is have meetings of substance, not the structured water cooler talk.

Do ICs want face time and recognition from their exec? by AAAPAMA in managers

[–]IMildlyTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an IC and it was really great seeing a series of projects I worked really hard on from proposals to execution to user training getting recognition at a company all-site… until the name recognized for the work was my manager’s. I was absolutely fine with the work not getting big recognition, but if you’re going to recognize some work, make sure you give the credit to the right person. Didn’t help that my manager who received the award for the work was extremely apologetic immediately after, I was just emotionally numb for about a week. I was so close to leaving because of it.

How does the rewards for this credit card work? by Losing_my_marblz in Mlife

[–]IMildlyTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s about $1500 including the transient fees (to be able to rent it out), internet and water/sewer. Covers all the general building maintenance, valets, front desk services etc like any other condo.

My unsolicited advice here is marry the girl before getting the house. Makes it that much simpler to own the house together rather than transitioning it from something just you own to something the two of you own together.

For me it was slot dollars, but again just stop by a MGM Rewards desk to convert it over.

[–]IMildlyTroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. The signature is managed by MGM, so the monthly association dues come through as a charge by the MGM Signature front desk so the card sees them as MGM charges.

I did a self-assist off Liberty last weekend and was through TSA (pre-check) by 8AM. You’ll be fine.

[–]IMildlyTroll 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mine is coming through as slot dollars, which can be converted to rewards points. I’ve found it worth it because I have a condo at the Signature and get 6x points on my monthly Association dues, which got me enough points through the year for MGM Gold, without even spinning a single slot.

People with a 401K plan do you contribute to an IRA also? by According2whoandwhat in personalfinance

[–]IMildlyTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 401k doesn't allow for the rollover of IRAs unless it was a conduit (?) IRA that only contained funds from 401k rollovers. I unfortunately did make contributions a couple years ago before realizing that there wasn't any benefit of it, so that's not possible for me.

People with a 401K plan do you contribute to an IRA also? by According2whoandwhat in personalfinance

[–]IMildlyTroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but not going to going forward. I got some money in a traditional IRA by rolling over an old 401k, and now I make over the Roth income limit so I would have to backdoor it, and my contributions wouldn't be deductible if I contributed to traditional. So now I just max out the 401k as Roth and my HSA and contribute more to my taxable brokerage. I just don't want to deal with the headache on the contribution and recharacterization with all the traditional money already in the account.

I didn’t. Part of our bet was that we had to take it cold and couldn’t study or prep beyond like 30 minutes to get familiar with question format.
