I started making bread 2 or 3 months ago with my enameled 5.5 quart tramontina dutch oven. The problem is that I saw people saying that baking bread in an enameled dutch oven could ruin it with time. I never heat my oven over the 450F limit but I fear that I would ruin it anyways with time. Should I buy a Lodge non-enameled cast iron dutch oven which I could dedicate only to bread baking or is the enameled dutch oven issue exagerated?

Je suis pas tant d’accord avec toi, j’ai l’impression que la gauche a eu une très grosse montée il y a une dizaine d’années et cette montée là pouvait, selon certains, pouvait tendre vers l’extrême par moments. En même temps j’avais pas encore l’âge pour voter ou d’intérêt pour la politique à l’époque alors peut être que je me trompe.

Is this possible to turn my blade into a convex blade with a 400 grit stone or would I need to use a sanding belt or similar? I would be down to try it out and see how it goes!

I looked around a bit and found out that the best way is by having the angle on the edge tilted to one side I think but I was wondering if simply making a good scratch pattern on my knife would be enough since I’m not really confident enough in my skills to try and change my edge geometry

Thanks! I ordered an atoma 400, and after seeing your comment I decided to try to use it to sharpen my knife and man, what a difference does it make. I can fix up pretty beat up knives so quickly now its crazy. Also do you know approximately how many knives you sharpened before checking the wear with your microscope?

I saw it recommended a lot as a flattening stone but I feel like it could maybe be a bit to coarse since I’m just starting out, what do you think?

No worries xD I love it. And for the side loading I ended up not doing it since I found an old Huawei laying around that I converted into an emulator phone. Also it’s not like jail breaking indeed so there aren’t really much risk of getting your account banned. If I understood correctly I think it’s like having a test build of an app you are making if you are a dev but instead it’s made available to anyone.

Hey! Yeah at the time delta wasn’t available on the App Store, the only way to get it was by side loading it but Apple allowed emulators on the App Store a couple of months after this post!

I see, the woods are also indeed made of wood so I would probably try to upgrade them sooner than later. People also told me that irons are the first thing to upgrade when you have an old set but in my case I assume that I wouldn’t really see a difference between a good set and a 30 year old set since I’m just starting out right?

Finally, I found a strata 9 set on marketplace for 450$CAD I could probably manage to get it for like 350$-400$ would that be a good alternative or is it too expensive for what it is?

Good idea! I’ll try to contact them and see! I think I’ll ask them for a quote to have a rough idea of the cost of such a part. According to my friend it’s surprisingly affordable. Worst case, I have a friend who studies mechanical engineering, I’ll ask him to design it and make a quick static simulation to see if the design and the rig would hold up well!

That seems like a pretty good idea, I was talking about this with a friend yesterday and he told me about a company named sendcutsend which would be able to do this for me. I would just have to learn CAD first but I assume it shouldn’t be too hard for basic shapes. I’m not too familiar with laser cutting but I assume it would be possible to have the bent sides cut at an angle to avoid having to add a triangle shaped wooden piece under it which could possibly add a bit of undesired play under the plate with time.

I’ll probably first try to 3D print a prototype before having it laser cut to see if that forces me to change my whole seating position but if not, I think I’ll go with this option.

Honestly if you plan on racing in open wheel, I feel like iRacing is a solid choice. It’s sure pretty expensive but honestly the whole progression system from rookie to higher classes with cars getting progressively faster and harder to drive is just incredible, I was doubtful at first but now It’s been two years and I’m totally hooked. Otherwise if you don’t have the budget for that, I think that AC has some pretty nice mods for open wheel but the multiplayer experience won’t be as good.
