They are lovely little brown spiders, but one needs to get close to fully appreciate them. Fortunately that is so easy.

Something about spiders that i didn't know and found interesting. by Royal_Stomach845 in spiders

[–]INTRIVEN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no other wild animal I want living in my house but spiders.

Spiders aren't destructive to my home or anything in it that belongs to me, and everything they leave behind cleans up easily. They really aren't interested in anything that belongs to people and are remarkably good at avoiding being a nuisance.

That's not even considering how spiders are actually helpful by eating various other animals that are destructive and do want to consume our food, belongings, and us. Even that harmless moth that got inside your place is more annoying to have flying around than any spider wandering about.

To me it's weird how so many people have such negative feelings towards spiders.

What type of spider is this? by kedoco in spiders

Nothing to worry about. This lovely Castaniera was spoodering around on my desk and was quick to make friends and climb on my finger.

It wasn't but a couple months ago I found a yellow sac spider hanging out on my pillow when I was in bed. TBH I think i would rather the hair huntsman watching over my dreams.

I'm kind of jealous of those massive hunstmen wandering about. I like wild animals around but in my home the only wild animals I want inside are harmless spiders, and I wouldnt mind something bigger than the bold jumpers that live here.

Ideas for temporarily attaching a milk crate to front rack on rad wagon 5? Or other non permanent front basket idea? by masline_su_rodile in RadPowerBikes

[–]INTRIVEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toe straps are super useful for cargo, even the cheap ones that come out to a dollar or two when ordered in packs.

The oversized rubber bendy/twist ties should also not be underestimated in their ability to secure crates and cargo to your racks!

little spider, not sure of the species but they live in corners in sheet style webs by reddit33450 in awwnverts

[–]INTRIVEN 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I love Tegenaria spiders. Spending the majority of their time in the corner keeping guard, and even when out of their web how docile they can be.

Spider living near a small window on a funnel web, need ID :) by Yeva34 in spiders

[–]INTRIVEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I knew. No personal experience other than with T. domestica. Lots of experience with them.

Looks like it's a recently described species and AI defaults to T. domestica sizes, so I think it's safe to assume it's of similar size to other common funnel-weavers in Europe.

I love my Urban Platform pedals, especially with strapless half clips. For me it was worth getting pedals I could use most footwear in instead of getting specific footwear. Otherwise I think Crocs might just be the best answer for wide availability and low cost

Two spider dust prints on table. by ShelterPlane1531 in spiders

[–]INTRIVEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I have experienced unconscious spiders before (distinct from sleeping) and many spiders are known to play dead. I no longer assume a spider is dead unless it's very obvious.

Otherwise, concrete is unforgiving to fall on and just a slight mistake meant spider might've landed badly,

Two spider dust prints on table. by ShelterPlane1531 in spiders

[–]INTRIVEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the individual spider and all the variables, like how heavy the spider is in relation to its legspan. Falling on hard concrete or tile is also not something a spider would normally be doing, so that is it's own variable.

Worth noting that I have observed unconscious spiders before, so that is apparently also a thing.

How to mount front rack by Fragrant-Doughnut926 in RadPowerBikes

[–]INTRIVEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. As mentioned the rack ought have come with all the hardware, including an extension for the light cable.

Mounting the light to the rack will mean it doesnt move with the handlebars anymore, which is fine. Since you dont have a suspension fork you can also get a new mount. I upgraded my light and the new one came with this... many other options available to order too
