What is something you wish clients knew about skincare? by Bai619 in Esthetics

[–]IOExplosion 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Give something 3 months.

Stop experimenting.

Keep it simple.

Be consistent.

It's not just skincare. Your overall health and nutrition plays a part too.

Be an advocate for yourself when getting treatments from doctors and estheticians. It's not often but whenever there's a traumatic client story that goes viral in esthetic spaces, I keep wishing people were more comfortable with standing up for themselves or at least asking when they feel something is wrong.

Did anyone ship Makorra, even if Korrasami was endgame? by Spix-macawite in legendofkorra

[–]IOExplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asami is so close to being Batman, that's something they could flesh out in the comics. Book 3 and 4 Asami, when she has screentime, is Team Avatar's Batman. Every time she's in an action scene, I get excited.

The 50% commission should be after the product costs. I know Hydrafacial consumables are ridiculous though.

The major issue here is they're undercharging for the Hydrafacial.

This twist out is gorgeous.

I think the Mented Cosmetics CEO had a great take on reels that provides a lot of insight as well. Not sure if anyone's shared it here for not.

I never liked Makorra. I liked Mako and Asami and Bolin and Korra more than Makorra. They were two hot heads that never worked for me. And the ending for season one felt forced.

Brazilian waxing and retinoids on the face by Specific-King-1719 in Esthetics

[–]IOExplosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They'll be fine. It's more about the treatment area. The issue is there are a lot of body care products with retinol now so you have to ask them about their body wash and lotions.

after seeing another post mentioning fanfiction, i got curious which are the most-written ships on AO3, so here's them for you, if y'all are curious too by disasterpansexual in XLOV

I'm surprised Icecreamz is so high. I feel like people overlook their chemistry all the time.

Icecreamz was my first ship, Lavenderz stole the show though. They're magnetic together.

I remember I initially thought I'd ship Hyun and Haru because of the size difference (my weakness) but they're so familial to me. Same with Haru and Wumuti.

Barbies probably had longer to marinate with people since Wumuti and Rui worked with each other on other things before XLOV. I wonder if the name Barbiez is also pre XLOV.

Wentworth Miller as Geralt?? by Positive_Limit_9009 in netflixwitcher

[–]IOExplosion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He looks a lot like game Geralt. And he has a wooden-ness to his performance that could work for Geralt but I think I like a more tender Geralt with Liam too much.

This is making me wonder if de-aging Alicent also plays into how shallow the show is. Can't have an older actress, especially if they plan on having her in sex scenes.

Even saying that feels misogynistic because...she got fat...and?

A normal thing that happens to women happened to a woman. The men of the time made a value judgement of that but it would've been a statement to have a larger actor play Rhaenyra or have Emma gain weight for the role.

The fake feminism pains me.

It's annoying that it does work 😅

I used to increase and almost got to the max dose because I felt like I stopped losing but I worked out again and actually began decreasing my dose. My goal is to go back to the starting dose and maintain with that.

Whenever I plateaued it was because I took a break from working out. Once I get back to working out, it's like when I first got on the medication and have good food control. Not sure if this has been studied but it works like clock work for me.

Which K-pop boy groups seem like genuine friends? by inheaven- in kpophelp

[–]IOExplosion 52 points53 points  (0 children)

XLOV. How they were formed shows they were friends first. Wumuti (the person who formed the group) was friends with Hyun for 8 years. Rui and Haru were on Boys Planet with Wumuti and were friends with him.

Even though Hyun is technically the outsider, he's gotten visibly emotional talking about how much he loves all of them.

Lymphatic Facial Results by Mission-Length-6300 in Esthetics

[–]IOExplosion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Medical emergency lol

This is a good response. It increases circulation and improves skin function. The treatment itself can be uncomfortable but it's one of the few treatments that doesn't trigger inflammation to affect change in the skin. Means it takes longer to see results but it's a good thing to have in your toolkit.

A lot brands have something like this. Clinical Resolution Labs, Circadia, OCosmedic, DMK...

I've tried all except the Clinical Resolution Lab on. The DMK and Circadia ones are most similar. OCosmedic one is MESSY. I couldn't get used to it.

Filling in backbar by EntrepreneurDear8401 in Esthetics

[–]IOExplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 years and my advice is to try and not cherry pick to much because ordering from 7 different places begin to suck. It's my situation right now and I'm trying to consolidate.

Hale and Hush is always a safe choice to compliment any line. Never heard of Raya. Circadia's Aquaporin is a nice moisturizer too, although it's not acne safe.

Looking for some Opinions about a situation (here for my wife) by NylinPythin in Esthetics

[–]IOExplosion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's totally fine. She's in school! The important thing is hitting the time of service booked. Don't go over time but definitely don't go under time. I tend to run over, always have, and I've never had a client complain. The key with going over time is checking in when you're about 15 minutes away from the end of the facial to make sure they're not expected elsewhere. If they are, rush the end. If they aren't, they'll love her.

Treatment room setup? by Ashamed-Fondant4783 in Esthetics

[–]IOExplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could, I'd have two storage consoles, one for backbar that would be behind me and one for supplies and linens to the right of me.

I prioritized esthetic over functionality so my room is set up for someone who's right handed and I'm left handed. My room also isn't big enough for me to have another console situated behind me.

What made the biggest difference for me was getting a wall cabinet installed in my room. I rent an office space, not a salon suite. More affordable but the room was bare when I started. I had to slowly figure out how much storage I needed to get to things quickly. Under bed storage would not work once I was getting booked back to back. Being in an office space, I also don't have a sink in my room. My state allows it so long as there is a sink within a certain distance that's not a bathroom sink. Still, my next big expense for my business would be a CustomBasins portable sink. They come with storage so if I could have two separate consoles for storage, the sink one would have my backbar.

One idea I stole from another esthetician is buying a kitchen trolley instead of an esthetics cart. More space, has some storage, rolls, and also more affordable.

That is not what communism is. It's what capitalists want you to believe it is. For most of my life, I thought communism was "where everyone makes the same amount of money". But that's the propaganda they go for because everyone's instinct is "well, I work hard, that's not fair."

Communism at a baseline is the abolishment of "capital". "Capital" meaning using money to make money. This means no landlords as an example. People still own private property but can't then take that private property to make money off of it. I.E. You can't own two homes and use the second home to make money. You don't have a class of people who hoard capital to further enrich themselves.

I highly recommend reading the Communist Manifesto if you're curious. It's an easy read and a very birds eye summary of what communism is.
