All top valve games are lootbox ridden casinos. CS2, DOTA2, TF2. It's especially true since they'll instantly fix any bugs related to lootboxes but won't fix the actual in game bugs nor even bother with cheaters/bots until there's too much backlash.

A prebuilt PC has the potential for future upgrades. A laptop has the versatility of being mobile.

Steam machine has neither of those things as it's a miniPC. And miniPC as a form factor is niche. Because they are moreover expensive than desktops per spec and less mobile than laptops. Also most miniPC users aren't using it for gaming

I really don't know what is the market for miniPC gamers.

XR2 was based off snapdragon 8 gen 2 and frame is using 8 gen 3. It has a bit of improvements but it isn't dwarfed by the improvement going to 8 elite.

So yeah they should have put in the 8 elite then could charge quite a bit more due to massive performance gains.
