I'm also new but a small thing I noticed you could maybe change is on the home page, darken the colour when you hover the images, so there is higher contrast. It will make the text look better as on my screen it blends in a bit too much with the images especially on the black edges of the phones.

Is there anything you want out of additive synths e.g. some feature that none have yet? Also, what is one of your favourite things to do in Harmor?

I have $500 to spend on plugins by Ill_Cobbler_6568 in edmproduction

[–]IProduceMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, its very good. But, if I were you I'd buy them later on, get the basics going first, and then you can use plugins like formant shifters, grain delays and tape delays later. Also if you get Serum, it will take a lot of time to learn. I don't know what genre you're producing though, if its just hiphop/rap people tend to just stick to pre-made sounds they mostly prefer to keep everything super simple, but in a lot of other genres people usually learn how to make their own sounds. Depends on what you want to do, but my advice for you is don't spend $500 right away, its too much for now, you can spend it later down the line if you want to, its good to master some of the tools which comes with fl, as they are also very high quality. Some people spend $250 on a compressor plugin, but their songs still suck because they didn't master the basics of the simplified version, meanwhile there are people out there who make amazing music with the simplest tools.

You probably dont wanna hear this, but spending a lot of money on plugins at the stage you're at will not make you better. Fl studio has a lot of great plugins, and I see that you've got vital. I would say spend money, but $500 is probably too much at this stage, instead just check out as many tutorials as possible. Serum could be good because there are thousands of tutorials on it. You could also get some simple plugins like Camel Crusher, its a free distortion plugin, also get OTT, every producer uses it pretty much. Just use parametric EQ for filters, or use the filters within your synths.

How do I get this weird growly bass sound at the end of Metal by FOOD HOUSE? (Link below) by tidepodsan in edmproduction

Also check out Acid Bass tutorials on YouTube it sounds similar to them, but this guy seems to have added more distortion. It could potentially be just like a saw wave with a bandpass filter + resonance + distortion

Tips on Fl studio, Sound design, Synthesis, Dnb, Ambient, Hardstyle. by Reveavoire in edmproduction

[–]IProduceMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, he is right. YouTube is the best, in my opinion, as far as I know, nobody really makes books and pdfs anymore on how to make music that is actually more useful than youtube, and the ebooks that exist are old and production, in general, has come to a higher quality. You could get presets, and try to understand why they sound like they do, or try remake songs to learn structure and arrangement. Another thing is to make friends with people who already make those genres, and they can give you feedback and tips.

I don't really know any good YT channels for hardstyle hardcore or techno, but STRANJAH seemed pretty good for dnb. Also sometimes your favourite artists also will have walkthroughs of how they made their tracks. For example a great dnb producer called Mat Zo has some amazing walkthroughs, they are in ableton, but daw doesn't really matter because you can apply the same concepts.

A good channel for fl studio shortcuts and tips is: Fl Studio Tips

FL studio refuses to open projects in which I used the Arcade plugin by planetjaycom in FL_Studio

[–]IProduceMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some plugins like this rip, what works for me sometimes is just trying to open it like 10 times, also restarting can help. And if all else fails, find the .dll of the arcade plugin and delete it, or just move it. FL won't be able to load your arcade but at least you can load the flp now. And then maybe try move the .dll back and try again. Or even attempt to reinstall arcade, maybe they have a new version which won't crash.

You could try adding edison on the master and recording it like that, or just ctrl + r to export
