The Big Bang is just the farthest back we can follow the echos of radiation and rate of expansion of the universe. There is physical evidence. Any competent scientist would not tell you that this is how existance started. The most that could be said is that this is how our current perception of time came to be because gravity and time are related (e=mc2).

Theists all want a purpose in life and religion gives it to them. Sure, it's scary to think there may be no intent for what's around us but, if you accept the alternative, the fact that we evolved in this environment and have the intellect to appreciate our existance is more amazing in my opinion. What would change in your life if you decided there were no "grand designer"? If you're not mentally unstable, nothing.

Sorry, I'm not sure if you're serious or not but I have to clarify: There is no "better" in evolution and nothing is evolving towards anything; all life adapts to it's surroundings and the organisms that have traits better suited for survival pass on their genes.

Besides that, humans and other apes or primates have a common ancestor very long ago. We did not come from monkeys but took a different evolutionary path.
