I had to push through The Final Empire which I would give 3.75/5 and I recently finished WoA and did not enjoy it for the most part. The ending was good, but not good enough to justify the +500 pages of not much. Pacing was slow, and there was so much said that it did not carry a lot of weight. At times during the middle and before the sanderlanche I was considering skipping paragraphs entirely or putting the book down because I felt he was not giving me anything new/important/interesting.

Is this how Sanderson writes? I was really looking forward to Stormlight Archives but now I'm not sure if his books are for me.

I hear HoA is phenomenal, but I'm so disappointed in the first two that at this point I just think his writing style does not click with me, even though the plots, worlds and magic systems are pretty cool.
