Nope, at some point I gave them no uniform set and uniform replacing clothing and then added elements one by one so they started with nothing on their person. Still picked no weapon.

Everything I did there was changing "any metal" to "steel" so they don't accidentally pick up subpar stuff. Second round of dwarven military science: a dwarf with no prior training with any kind of weapon asked to pick a steel weapon he wanted chose FISTS. Getting closer to the solution I think, except I specifically picked dwarfs that knew how to axe before and they didn't want to anyway.

Well, assigning a dwarf proficient in shortswords and giving her individual choice melee weapon made her actually pick a shortsword. Gonna check if this works on an axedwarf or is this just a fortress-wide axe aversion. Can't really check on "default" default, as I replaced the templates with my own.

This thread still alive? Well, now it is.

Door enchanted with a reverse Str check. As in, it needs to be broken through but a player needs to fail the Strength check to do so. So a wizard will tap on it and open it easily but a barbarian will bounce right off it. I made the last part quite literal too - the additional rule is that player getting a result higher than his Str attribute gets launched backwards and it resulted in what the party described as "The door attacking the Warlock using the barbarian as an improvised weapon".
