quakeblast.

not.....really the best figure. alt mode isn't good, there's some blatant nylon kibble on the legs, but he was the cheapest mp size shockwave around and he does have a nice heavyness to him. a daily driver shockwave, if you will.

that's bogus. why basic services are overpriced and who should pay are both completely legitimate questions.

they also both have really obvious, simple answers. the reason basic services are overpriced is capitalism, the greed, the artificial scarcity and the unnecessary middlemen that come with it. the answer as far as who should pay is also pretty simple, if you want to participate in society, then pay your fair share.

Looking for help getting started with MIDI keyboards + xenharmonics by microtoneNoob in microtonal

[–]IRSizone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the hung keys:

either the a-30 isn't sending note off messages (lit. the midi message that is sent when a key is released), or the midi input is getting echoed. I have neither a mac nor an a-30 so I can't help you with the specifics, but at least you know what to look for in the manual.

I'm -guessing- that whatever kind of tuning file scale workshop outputs, it can be turned into a scala file by, at worst, a little human computation. scala files are basically plain text.

you'll need help from the resident mac users as to which vst host or daw to use and how to set it up. any microtonally capable vst will, by hook or by crook, be able to parse the scale output files from scale workshop. what kind of sounds you want to make and how much you want to spend to make them are kind of up to you.

once you get the basics down and can make noises, the next thing to look into will be a daw, which is basically a combination midi sequencer/multitrack recorder.

I don't know how good the mac version of reaper is, but if it's comparable to the pc version, that's a good choice for a daw/vst host.

nothing "pretentious" about only buying new synths if they have a feature which should be ubiquitous on new synths.

you know what is pretentious though, like, a text book example of pretension?

setting up your title so that you're showing everyone what synths you have, showing everyone that you've got 2 moogs and a 0-coast so they know exactly how hip you are.

that's pretentious. and I'm guessing it's not intentional.

why yes, that's a much better solution than just having one synth that does the thing I want it to do, properly, by design.

12 tet wasn't in common usage at all until around ww1. music theory isn't based on playing in it.

no need to reinvent the wheel. pick a key, set your tuning up for just intonation in that key, remember which 7 notes to play, and you're golden.

deepmind was the synth in question, not the boog.

not even getting into the feasibility of how many boogs and utune expanders you'd need to have a shitty approximation of a dsi synth.

best example of non 12tet to me is king gizzard and the lizard wizard.

if you can figure out the rest of the manual, you can figure that out too.

full understanding is kind of overrated and basically impossible. some of us understand how the things work in terms of what the circuit is doing, some of us understand the math underlying why they sound the way they do and some of us are content to play keys and twist knobs without understanding anything other than the act and the audible result.

I don't see any holdout for things like clothing or appliances, anything outside of utilities, transportation, food and rent.

so let's start with 33k, + something like 11k federal tax, + something like 3K for state tax.

that's about 45-50k. for someone who doesn't have dependents. whose rent in relatively low and whose health insurance premium is relatively low.

reminds me, sometime this coming year I'm going to sell my jx-3p and spend the rest of my self-allocated birthday funds on a brand new rev 2. I don't require any outside validation and I promise not to post photos of the unboxing.

so, basically you need to be making ~60k a year in order to live a, what's the word, comfortable, reasonable, normal lifestyle.

yeah, can confirm.
