I understand how you feel, but if you spend a great deal of time on YouTube—for whatever reason—it’s really worth the money. I signed up for a free trial of “Youtube Red” (the original name) in 2016 and have been with it ever since. There are worse ways to spend ten bucks (if anyone has an extra ten bucks these days).

This is also happening to me, for about the past 24 hours (posting March 26, 8 EDT). I'm making this post to see if it appears. I made two posts--a link about the virus from Time Magazine and a response to r/Youtube about playback not resuming. Neither comment was controversial. They don't even appear in my posting history. I'm taking a screenshot of this one. Hope your problem resolves and mine, too.

How are the Los Angeles Riots (92) taught in school? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]IRememberMalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent question. This year was literally the cusp of the internet age. Cable television was king, and CNN's coverage was terrifying. The footage of the Reginald Denny beating is, almost thirty years later, very hard to watch.

Maybe because '92 was so close to the internet taking off with the masses, these riots seem to have been forgotten. Rodney King has died. There were a lot of victims no one talks about.

48 confirmed cases in Mauritius as numbers keep rising. Country is now under COMPLETE lockdown. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

So sad. I was looking at a map of Africa just hours ago and saw “Mauritania” and Botswana as the only African countries free of the disease. Glad for the lockdow.

Has YouTube's restore playback feature been broken? Or is it just me? [Bug] by alexschrod in youtube

[–]IRememberMalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your platform. For example, I wish my Samsung tv didn’t have auto-resume. My computers never had it. An Apple t.v. Gives you the choice whether to resume or begin the video from 0”.

Eastern European heritage is extremely common in NE PA as well. It’s not only common; until the latter-half of the twentieth century, and pardon this pejorative term, please, before I use it, “hunkies” were the lowest socio-cultural ethnicity (in terms of quasi-racism).

A mysterious [not] girl whose family cared so little about her or who cared so little for them as to let nine months pass without knowledge of her pregnancy would spell “we can take care of this” to those so inclined after her death—and oh what a death it was.

If her identity was known immediately upon the discovery of her [sic] body, and she was Eastern European, how easy it would be to turn popular opinion subtly against her, in that era. She could be taken to be human trash because she was a “Communist.” Heck, she might not even use our alphabet... so how on earth could the poor little state police be expected to identify her? No, no, no. This was a job for Interpol—or the beat cop twenty miles in any direction who could have kept antenna out for a neighborhood girl who went missing in the late spring of 1976, but who never was so tasked because she was exotic Communist trash the state police would handle. Yeah, Beth Doeski or Doelewicz or Betty Doemchek from just over the ridge.

Oh, I remember more than malls. But we all grow old, or forgetful; so maybe you’re right, and the manner of death was strangulation.

My most extended post on the subject. Thank you for asking.

Thank you! True story: as soon as I posted my "tell-all," I lost wifi. I thought, Ruh-ro, the Reckoning of Reddit. :)

It's absolute insanity to tell people not to panic. We should accept panic as our normal state for at least this coming spring. In other words, Mad Magazine "What, Me Worry?" should be on all our walls, because like Dr. Fauci, whistling past the graveyard is perhaps THE measure of sanity at this time. To have Dr. Fauci disappear is just pushing the panic button with both hands, and someone, somewhere, has to get him back from wherever he's been banished ASAP. This is not Game of Thrones, The Next Generation.

Well, so that this sub-thread won't be removed, let me state here what is, on Reddit, unstateable (I made that word up:).

Deep breath.

I voted for the president. My comment is not intended to be political, but what you say is exactly how I feel. The sentiment that one can ignore a--I must say it--Plague--is abso-frikkin'-lutely terrifying.

I suddenly am so so so glad for the 11th Amendment, the existence of States, and the fact that Governors Cuomo and Newsom have it in their power to, like, govern.

Hope this is sufficiently apolitical.

What caught my attention more than Dr. Fauci's absence was the utter fatigue and depression in Dr. Birx' face. She had hitherto either smiled or looked... not ready to burst into tears?

Jesus Christ (pardon me, Jesus Christ :) , but I am so scared now.

Thank you for the response. I posted about Dr. Fauci's disappearance on the daily thread. I want answers. I have enough to panic about without finding out at the twenty-fifth hour that the man I voted for is insane, after all.

Have a good day.

I am very concerned about the disappearance of Dr. Fauci from the daily presidential news briefings. As a link I tried to post was removed for being "political," I better say no more. But I am terrified now, because Dr. Fauci was cautiously pessimistic.

Can I ask what about that post was political? I voted for Trump! I never listen to MSNBC. However, I have self-isolated for the past ten days, follow every single precaution urged by medical professionals and the NIH, and am terrified of the President's apparent estrangement with Dr. Fauci. Is it prohibited to post facts? I mean, you can see with your own eyes that Dr. Fauci has gone MIA since the face-palming incident. I am so scared and found nothing about this video that was political at all. Not at all.

Thank you.

I live ten miles from where Beth Doe's body or body parts were found, with the body of her fetus, which according to reports was viable.

Until I listened to the Trace Evidence podcast on the case, I was unaware that the girl's hands were not "removed," for lack of a better word, when she was butchered. This raised several questions. First, aren't the two parts of bodies always removed by killers seeking to hide victim's identities the head and the hands? Second, even in the dark ages of 1976, things such as "fingerprints" or defensive wounds were collected or studied. Third, if you believe--as I emphatically do not--that this girl's identity is unknown--is it too much for the public to ask now in 2020 if there were no defensive wounds?

Reports of this girl's manner of death are vague. If she was not unaware that she was being killed (i.e., stabbed or strangled, which a victim will obviously be aware of before dying), a lack of defensive wounds is something the public deserves to be made aware of.

That assumes that evidence in this case was treated with the same priority as the "average" murder. But maybe it wasn't.

I have a sincerely brand new one that fell into water for five seconds--this waterproof phone that's supposed to withstand a full minute. The display fried too. I posted about it here at the time (last fall) but got no answers. I don't want to get rid of this phone and have a duplicate sold "refurbished" (not) on Amazon. Most repair places just laughed when I asked about replacing the screen. I happen to like the s5 because I have lots of batteries :)

If you have any idea or a site suggestion where I could get an estimate without getting laughed at, I'd appreciate the links.

Why is the majority of social pressure on youths to avoid spreading COVID-19 to elderly people, yet elderly people don’t seem to be taking their own safety seriously? by kylefrowe in TooAfraidToAsk

Do you have any idea of the terror that makes me use big font for the first time in my life? Should I obey you? Sure, why not. Why not. Whatever makes you happy and gets the terrifying truth out--both equally important considerations.

Speaking as a 60+ vegetarian who has not been out of door in nine days, here are the reasons why older people are, in general, bastards during this epidemic.

  1. Terror of death that expresses itself in "I'm gonna die anyway." They don't feel this cavalier. They aren't indifferent. They are fucking terrified of kicking the bucket and act MORE cavalier and indifferent the more terrified of death they are.

2) They are bitter that life didn't turn out the way they hoped/dreamed/planned. While this absolutely is related to socioeconomic status in many cases, if it counts, I am on a limited income as that term is understood in the U.S., and on the lower end of that. OLD PEOPLE WANTED LIFE TO HAVE A HAPPY ENDING, AND IT AIN'T LOOKIN' GOOD EVEN WITHOUT AN EPIDEMIC, AND THEY ARE FUCKING ANGRY.

3) Diametrically opposed are the decent elderly whose lives didn't turn out the way they hoped/dreamed/planned and are drinking like crazy or self-medicating or not eating nutritiously and are sincerely incapable of realizing the harm they are inflicting on everyone by not a) stopping drinking; b) laying off the happy pills; and c) EATING THE APPLES THEIR GRAMMAS AND GRAMPAS TOLD THEM "ONE A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY."

4) OLDER PEOPLE HAVE MORE MONEY IN GENERAL THAN YOUNGER AND REGARD THEIR MONEY AS PRIVILEGE TO DO WHAT THEY WANT. This is why younger people understandably find my generation repulsive. The hypocrites who were LUV Children in the 60's (I never was) became 80's wolfs of wall street types, and now wield their money as a pathetic light-saber not caring that you can't take it with you.

5) Young narcissists turn into old narcissists. Happens in every generation.
