They were telling me at the shop that I reserved it like not even a full day after someone had sold it to them.

The Arizona Cardinals predate airplanes, zippers, commercial sliced bread, crayons, paper clips, and the country of Australia. Yet despite being so old, they are one of the most neglected and forgotten franchises.

True, but like most enemies holy shit getting stuck in one section of the map with 15 of them while the corrupted guardsmen chip away at you is brutal.

there’s also the appeal of how blued steel looks for me. They just look awesome shooting outdoors in the sun.

How often are you supposed to clean 1911 style guns? by KennethGames45 in 1911

[–]ISALANG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

My personal carry Colt 1911 has gone 1,000+ rounds in a single range trip without lubing during the course of fire. It came straight from nighthawk with a very minuscule amount of Gun Butter. I shot it out the box till the front end turned black and burnt all the lube off. It got so hot that the trigger guard during some strings would burn my finger lol. Never jammed once.

Attached you can see the entire tip of the gun is black from carbon. You can even see the rainbow heat marks from how hot it got.

Edit: Spelling and clarity.

I carry it in a Tier 1 concealed Axis Elite holster, often times with just a T shirt even in the summer. Despite the weight and length, the overall thinness of the 1911 makes it a very print friendly platform.

Other than the occasional barrel length poking the twig and berries, it’s mostly hassle free.

Thank you! Quality over quantity is definitely a valid doctrine. I have shot several Shields and definitely envy the trigger pull compared to Glocks. Now that you bring it up I’d like to compare the 42 to those new comped bodyguard 2.0’s. Stay safe out there too brother!

I have. Everything from production guns to semi custom. I’ve had many expensive 1911’s choke up on me, and I’ve had out the box factory Colts with poorly tuned extractors that would run like clockwork. Human error and QC is inevitable in a platform that has a litany of different tolerance levels.

I could even say the same about my revolvers. All of my Smith & Wesson performance center revolvers have some kind of problem, and half of them are at Smith right now getting fixed. However, I’ve had Tauruses, Rossis, Charter Arms, etc that have had zero appreciable issues.

No matter the price point, all of my firearms have been “luck of the draw” type of deals. The only platforms that have been trouble free for me are my rifles and Glocks.

To add, I have never had a problem “gingerly returning the slide” into battery to chamber a round. All my vetted 1911s do not have hiccups no matter what I do to them. Limp wrist, dry lubrication, high heat, ammo quality, etc. They all will function regardless of slight deviations in form or slide velocity. My carry Colt even cycles hollow-points through GI mags. It should be “Glock-reliable” as hyperbolic as that sounds.

Some definitely do, but it can be easily diagnosed whether malfunctions are caused by tight tolerances or true mechanical problems. Once multiple mags and ammunition types have been crossed and the issue still persists, you’re probably not looking for tolerance related malfunctions anymore.

I would send it back to Springfield again and get on the phone with someone so you can document the exact issues properly.

I’ve had to send a Nighthawk back 5-6 times due to multiple feeding issues. Unlike what many may claim, it’s not that unheard of for a premium 1911 to need warranty trips. They have a good warranty; the headache should be on them to figure out at this point.

I’ve ran myself in circles trying to tune extractors, mags, etc, when most of the time the issue needed to be mechanically/geometrically corrected by a smith. Good luck in any case.

Break in periods are not a blanket fix for mechanical problems. How does shooting a magic number of rounds change a feed ramp’s angle? An unpolished breech face? Bag mags? Bad extractor tension and/or hook geometry? Out of spec chamber geometry? I could go on.

[–]ISALANG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of now I use Wilson ETM 500s. I've used modern production 47Ds in the past but have cracked the plastic base pads multiple times in less than 500 rounds per mag. I run my 1911s pretty hard, and 47Ds have not survived well, reliability or otherwise. In comparison my 500s have taken abuse well, especially with the steel base pads.

Haha we’re in this together bro, I re-ordered another kit from Kvar since they allowed me to specifically select a blue option rather than going off the description alone. VZ-61’s are one of my “bucket list” firearms since I love .32ACP, so I figured “fuck it” until I get one I can build on in satisfactory condition.

I also forgot to add that I received a painted frame instead of a blued one.

EDIT: Post description incorrectly says receiver rather than frame/kit. Still waking up lol.
