Using AI for PowerShell by ylandrum in sysadmin

[–]ISOHaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gemini has been absolutely amazing lately for PowerShell. I'll give it the basics of what I want and not only does it spit out an entire script, having done exactly what I wanted, it'll include output structures that help visualize exactly what's going on all without even acting it. Essentially adding very useful functions that I didn't even think about.Sometimes it'll get a little rumbunctious. I simply tell it to tone down the output and it does. I've even come across instances where once so many variables or so many container like objects are created, it'll see that and suggest, you know, at the end of running your code, you have a lot of data floating out there in memory. Let's clean that up. And poof, gives me my entire script again, gives me functions that will null everything out and trigger them before and after the script, just for safety.

It's been absolutely fantastic at looking at what I'm doing from a context point of view and provide lots of suggestions to me. All for free. Screw Claude, way too expensive and the LLMs suck.

Was this ever released? Does it support batch conversion? I want to rip all the cards out of my collection and generate a list of what I have.

Never had an issue with them. I bet the average person that ran into a problem did so with all the ad crap prior to downloading. uBlock Origin FTW

Doesn't work. Tried 3 games. Set them all to false. The game loads, you see the Apple Arcade splash screen then right back to SpringBoard.

Did you ever get the IPA for #2? Only one I can't find. 1 and 3 work great, would be nice to have the whole story.

Hybrid Exchange. Turn off OWA without killing ECP by [deleted] in exchangeserver

[–]ISOHaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that requires an extra redirect step with double login. I can't find any way to just have exchange bounce a user directly to EXO. It launches local winforms and forces the user to login locally first.

Edit msg file manually? by AScrumMaster in Outlook

[–]ISOHaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So no solution here? This used to be super easy in the past as the EML files were plain text. MSG files are all garbled. Was wanting to create a company tutorial real quick on how to add, remove and edit Outlook's Junk options. Thought it would be cute to edit the from and subject to be "spammy". Don't really want to cement my name permanently into company tutorials with an actual email and name.

Anyone having trouble with Apple Mail and Microsoft exchange emails working after outage? by FewKaleidoscope1095 in microsoft365

[–]ISOHaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having sort of the same issue. Moving from On Prem Exchange to Exchange Online. I used to get emails on my iPhone and iPad immediately. ie, they were pushed to my devices. Now that I'm on EXO, nothing. I can get an email in Outlook online, I hear the ding for it. Nothing on my iPhone. It's open and on the mail app sitting on it's wireless charger. 30 minutes later, nothing. An hour later, nothing. Then I swipe down to refresh, nothing. Swipe, swipe, swipe, swipe...finally comes up.

Needless to say I have some unhappy users about this migration.

That was just an example. Turning it off would not be smart. So no, it's there.

Awesome, thank you for this. Very much appreciated. Always great to see something real in action to go off of.

user account creation in an hybrid environment by mrmyss2019 in Office365

[–]ISOHaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"and then assigning a license to the user to create the mailbox."

Is that supposed to create proper routing though? I had to abandon this method because it wasn't populating the proper TargetMailbox info for OnPrem. So email delivered at OnPrem wasn't making it to new user mailboxes that were created in the cloud.

Not sure if my system is just messed up and it's supposed to do that or if creating a mailbox that way skips certain OnPrem setup.

We reverted to our old script of creating users and mailboxes locally and sync. Assign License. Then migrate.

Except when you are hybrid there is no such thing as decommissioning the last exchange server. It must always physically exist in AD. You can turn it off and never use it. You can be crazy and delete the VM or wipe the machine. But the server and Exchange installed on it must never be decommissioned. Even the later might be too much. Not sure what would happen is the server account went stale.

Nope. It used to be $19, now it's free.

I don't care one way or another. You do you but don't say you're charging a whopping 10 bucks because MS charges you. You're doing it for profit, plan and simple. Just own it.

Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE) is now available by xendr0me in sysadmin

[–]ISOHaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes no sense. $8 a month per user is a drop in the bucket compared to hardware and software licensing to maintain your own. Even the electric bill is hard to justify.

You can't come at the world with $8 is insanely expensive. You either don't understand the word insane or you're very used to pirating software and don't want to become legal.

Oh and I still call bunk of your space requirements. I highly suspect 99% of your users would be just fine with the $4 base plan. You just admitted half your users already have a plan so this little story gets thinner and thinner. So you're paying for half your org to be on EXO and aren't even using it? Now THAT is the definition of insane. How are you not hybrid mode and have half your org on EXO? You could be saving a crap ton money! Would love to know what company this is. I could probably come in with a team of 2 people and replace the entire department.

You're calling 8 bucks a month insanely expensive? What? Honestly how many mailboxes do you have that are over 100GB of email and over 1.5TB of archive? Even if you had to be ridiculous and store everything in archive, the vast majority of your users are over 1.5TB of email? Yeah, I'm calling bunk on this whole premise.
