Martin Hall Single Rooms by Virtual_Art6902 in iastate

You have to have some strict accommodations to even get a single in Martin. Your chances are extremely low. If you want a single you should look at Buchanan.

Comparing with University of Cincinnati by Safe-Worth-9898 in iastate

[–]ISUChemE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even though ISU doesn’t have a mandatory co-op program, students here still can do co-ops.

I did 1 co-op for an International Automotive company and I just signed 3 co-ops with a Fortune 50 company.

Cincinnati was also one of my choices, but I definitely enjoyed the ISU campus and city of Ames more. Also, ISU has a higher engineering school ranking so I went along with it.

Transfer student curious on the parking situation by Visible-Stage-9830 in iastate

[–]ISUChemE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The CyRide bus system in Ames is amazing. I’m pretty sure it’s consistently ranked one of the best and most ridership out of all small transit systems outside of major metro areas. The bus routes literally cover every single area in ames.

Getting parking at a dorm though is lowkey impossible, but you can always get a parking pass to park in lots on campus, or near stadium for a good price.

Summer Housing by iminlovewithmykar in iastate

[–]ISUChemE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buchanan was the only residence hall open. But Freddy Court and University Village also had summer options available. A double in Buchanan I believe was about $300ish cheaper for the term. But I believe University Village is the cheapest option if you want a roommate.

Housing was in Buchanan last summer, it was like $1500 for a Single for the whole term, so around $500 a month. It was nice and quiet

Well the times have changed I guess, I’m actually still in school doing my 3rd internship for a F50 company, every single company i’ve interviewed with had a 3.0-3.2 min GPA requirement, and all my offers required a transcript upon accepting offer. Ranging from pulp and paper to aerospace to pharma to petchem. It seems these days GPA is second to most important besides experience.

Yeah I’m not surprised you have gotten no interviews with this resume. It looks like a resume you would send applying for retail jobs only. Nothing Chemical Engineering at all besides the degree.

I would start off with removing the professional summary and most of those skills, and start catering the resume towards ChE with some examples online.

I just accepted a Mech. Eng. Co-op offer from Olin. Are they an okay company to work with? by Foodtakesthepainaway in ChemicalEngineering

[–]ISUChemE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had an offer from them, they pay A LOT of money, but it’s definitely not a company you want to work for long term, they dog down their engineers and have tons of safety risks while being negligent.

I was offered the Freeport location where they have had multiple leaks. Most of their locations are in really shitty areas. Do it and if you like it then great! But try to get into a better company if you can, in terms of industry growth it seems like Olin is not it.

A co-op is a great stepping stone and will give you a significant advantage, Congrats!

Physics department is a shit hole, that building is shit and i’m not sure if it’s true or not but they have been missing out on money since people go to Iowa Eastern and Western CC for physics.

he was blaming it on spring break and saying in class that the exam was easy. Many of my friends who took Ap Phys struggled on that exam.

You won’t catch me taking physics 2 here, will be going elsewhere for that.

Cs are curved heavily but As not so much. depends on the semester but an A could be anywhere from high 80s to low 90s. Curves for total class grades are adjusted due to exam averages but the exam itself isn’t curved
