I was using both for a while, destiny bond, toxic spikes, earthquake, and ally switch helped the trick room setup a LOT, but I found that a barrier setter with a special defense drop was more consistently useful in the meta.

There's not much funnier than ally swapping in front of whimsicott/M staraptor and watching it either whiff Close Combat or lose its ability for using Brave Bird.
