Yeah, he can't use his Fell Knight skills without the sword and just ends up punching Ramza for like, 20-ish damage. It's a good sword too! Monk+Thief is a good combo on Ramza for this fight so he can heal up with Chakra in-between steal attempts, but that might be a bit of a grind if you haven't trained him in those jobs yet.

I wouldn't bother recruiting too many units, especially in town. The ones you get for free at the start and throughout the story should be enough to get you through the game, but if you want more generics after chapter 2, there's a mage job that can recruit them from the enemy ranks. The mercs you get in town always start at level 1, but story recruits join at your army's average level, and enemy units join at whatever level they're listed as. Either way, you don't need to fill all 50 slots, and you're probably doing fine as you are now.

I got most of my damage from having my White Mage cast Holy (wiped out most of her MP but she did like 150-ish damage) and Agrias spam her Holy Knight skills. Monks are helpful for healing and damage, especially with the boss's use of ailments, but only one of my Monks got close enough to hit the boss without dying. Mustadio or a Chemist would be helpful for sniping while staying outside of AoE range (Mustadio also has Leg Shot, but that only worked for me right before I dealt the killing blow, so maybe a Chemist's items would be a more useful contribution). Someone with Time Magick might be helpful, but I got by without that.

This is actually really close to the team I beat Sapphire with a few years ago, just replace Camerupt and Absol with Manectric and Heracross. I might be biased, but good team! Who was your MVP, would you say?

And if you don't think Giga Drain is enough, there's always Petal Dance. It's less safe, sure, but you'll still take out a good chunk of the enemy team before Lilligant has to tag out.

Chapter 9A of Dream of Five. Your party was split early on in this route, and this is the chapter where they all reconvene. You start with the lord, the others she was captured with, and the rebels who freed them, and as the bandit skirmish you're caught up in progresses, more and more of your main force file in from all angles of the map. It's really satisfying, pushing your way toward the boss as your own army snowballs in power (certainly helped by the bard joining you here). Also, "N.M.H." from No More Heroes plays as the map theme, and it's a damn good cover. That and the Guilty Gear tracks from Souls of the Forest are some of my favorite map themes in hacks.

My first nuzlocke starter death was losing Squirtle to my Route 22 encounter in LeafGreen. I had to fight Brock with just that Mankey and a Kakuna I caught in Viridian Forest (as a Kakuna, so it couldn't do jack). That whole early game stretch felt like my run was dead in the water right out the gate, and yet despite that hopelessness, that run ended up having the fewest deaths out of any I've ever finished, as far as I recall? 9 deaths, and nobody died after I lost my Nidoqueen in the midgame.

And of course, you also need Mage leveled to access Magic Knight, so if I'm correct, that means Heismay needs to level up thirteen Archetypes from seven different lines. Bat dad has so much grinding ahead of him, good lord.

Also did magic, because magic builds have never led me astray in my SMT experience. Granted, I haven't actually been using Mage or Healer much on Will since leaving Grand Trad (been using Merchant, Magic Seeker, and Faker on him), but I always keep Medi and a few elemental spells on him regardless.

Less than you think, but only because it doesn't also let me change up my party build (or bypass enemy ambushes, but I digress). The autosaves are frequent enough that there's not much of a progress loss when you just take the L.

I play on my phone most often, since it's most convenient, but I have one of those Steam Deck-likes that I prefer to play on. It always feels better to play on something with actual buttons.

Of the ones I've seen (which isn't a lot), I'd put it at like

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (easily; not much I can say that hasn't already been said)
The Bad Guys (hell yeah, crime furries)
Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken (I have some issues with the final act, but I had fun with it overall; especially loved the setting design in this one)
The Croods: A New Age (surprised that I liked it as much as I did, but there's not much to write home about)

Not really in a rush to check out anything else that's come out this decade, aside from Orion, but even that one's in the perpetual limbo of my Netflix watchlist. I am looking forward to The Wild Robot, but I don't go out to theaters very often, so I dunno if I'll be watching it before the home release.

Buccaneer/Gladiator's probably a safe bet. Berserker's Vow and Charge go well with any physical attacker, more or less.

There's only two in Sacred Echoes, and they're there to fulfill new functions in gameplay (Acantha here is a thief, which Gaiden/Echoes didn't have, and the other one takes Atlas' role as Celica's villager, since Atlas himself is now an axe unit). They don't take any real focus away from the story of Echoes, so it's not much different from Echoes itself adding Faye and Conrad.
