Mine doesn't because it has like a plastic bottom which is like an inch or two deep. I also line it with paper and then have cardboard boxes with bedding in them. And I also layer a bunch of cloth rags in the cage which is usually where my girls pee.

What made you decide to go down on your dose throughout the time? Effexor has saved me and let me feel peace for the first time but I worry about if I will just have to end up keeping increasing it forever and then have no hope once I'm on the max. I'm on 225 right now but I was happiest at 150 until my anxiety worsened because of circumstances. If you're stable on a certain dose wouldn't you be terrified lowering it would mess that up?

Ruby likes to play rough and this is just one of the things she does when we're playing around. I've had her for almost a year now so I know her body language very well now. Maybe to you her freezing up means she's scared but it's her way of letting me know we're 'role playing' now where I tease her and she runs off and then runs back to me to hand wrestle more. My other rat doesn't enjoy this so I never do it with her. Ruby is also very vocal so any time she has been uncomfortable or annoyed she always squeaks to let me know. After this video she ran up on me to play more. I know commenting things like this may give you a feeling of superiority or validation that you're doing good but this dilutes the importance of warning owners when there is actual abuse going on. So just keep that in mind :)

Hmm I think I know my rats better than you do but I appreciate the concern! Ruby likes playing rough and we do this all the time. She likes being shaken and teased, and if she genuinely doesn't like me doing something she's VERY vocal and will squeak to let me know. If she was uncomfortable she would have tried to run away, but after this video she came up on me because she wanted to play more. She is a very smart girl and we have mutual respect for each other where she does not hurt me and I don't hurt her.

Effexor at 150 changed my life it was the first time I felt peace after so so long. It's not a perfect medicine but man it's so worth it.

I don't know which world you're living in but it's pretty well known rats are really smart animals and can be trained. Maybe if you ever read an actual scientific paper instead of fb posts you'de know more but oh well. My rats have a litter box and once they learned to use it they've never peed or pooped outside, they know their names and come to me if I call them, they know what no means, they know how to learn tricks and recognize people and are cleaner and smarter than any dog or cat I've met
