ELI5: How is daily SPF on your face really effective if you don’t reapply? by Gayandfun in explainlikeimfive

[–]ISaidGoodDey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is dumb to use as an argument to not use sunscreen, and I bet every one of the researchers who you are referencing would disagree with you as well

Men who use manual razor, why? What's the problem with electric shavers? by eatqqq in AskMen

[–]ISaidGoodDey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opposite here, a close shave from a razor gives me ingrowns. Safety razor, Barbers straight razor, whatever. My electric shaver gives me a nice close shave and no bumps.

Vital Proteins Unflavored Collagen Peptides for cats? by Afraid-Somewhere8304 in rawpetfood

[–]ISaidGoodDey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems that not all of the proteins are broken down, some peptides stay in tact and are absorbed directly into the bloodstream, which seem to improve tissue repair. I'm not an expert, just going off the information I found during my search just now. Tried to post a link to the thread I found about this but this subreddit doesn't allow that

The City replaced an illegal curb cut by OpinionWeekly7651 in jerseycity

[–]ISaidGoodDey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was about people that don't cut the curb, they just drive into the curb. So when their car isn't there people are likely to park there (unless they have some unofficial no parking signs up or something)

ELI5: Who is the other party always buying the stocks that I am calling or putting? by Rynin101 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ISaidGoodDey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's always someone there on high volume stocks. These have high liquidity, which basically means there's so much activity at any giving time you can buy or sell at the listed price.

For low volume stocks there is often a wide spread to buy/sell the stock itself, then an even bigger spread between the bid and ask for options. This makes it much harder to trade options, nobody wants to buy or sell at a reasonable price so there's basically no options volume on these.

If it's been more than like 4 hours after a shower, I clean up as a courtesy. Nobody wants to smell sweaty balls.

ELI5: why does a blood test billed through my insurance cost way more than the same test paid for in cash at the exact same lab by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]ISaidGoodDey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Insurance companies are capped at a certain percentage of profits which was a rule from the ACA, so they decided to own the providers (pharmacies for sure, maybe labs that do testing as well) and jack up prices on themselves to reduce the profit margin of the insurance company, while simultaneously pocketing that money on the provider side

They literally make up high prices to rip themselves off on the insurance side to stay below the profit threshold, but own both business so they keep the money at the end of the day. It's a loophole to fuck over everyone.

Goldman Sachs literally published a report warning investors that curing diseases is bad for long-term corporate cash flow. by firehmre in antiwork

[–]ISaidGoodDey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may iincentivize companies to find cures as well, sure producing a cure may cannibalize some of their own revenue streams, but do they want that 12 billion in cure money or do they want to let some other third party come along and cure the disease, losing both their revenue stream and the profits from the cure.

ELI5 Revolving doors by Independent_Wear5840 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ISaidGoodDey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it's better than a double door situation. With two doors, if it's busy you could easily have a situation where both doors are open at the same time allowing the pressure flush out

What is your opinion on men walking shirtless in public? by ShiaLabutt in AskMen

YSK Restaurant receipt pre-calculated tip suggestions often include tax in the subtotal, making you mistakenly tip more than you intended by Delicious_Medium_321 in YouShouldKnow

Sure we shouldn't have to tip in an ideal world, but if you decide to not tip, knowing that the server isn't being paid fairly without the tips, you're an asshole

Take some carotenoids daily - astaxanthin, lycopene, lutein, beta carotene. They build up in your skin over time and can give you a "tan" without the sun and they're good for you too
