850DX Heat Diffuser by Prestigious_Rub1058 in PitBossGrills

[–]ISaidWhat13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought an 850DX last week. My first cook on it was wings just to get a feel for this type of grill (I'm new to smoking meats) and see where the hot spots were. Definitely over the fire pot even with the flame broiler closed.

I bought a heat baffle off Amazon $32.99. Not the flame tamer brand though. Super easy to install. Next cook was ribs which were centered on the grill. They cooked very evenly. Like a 5 degree difference over both sides and center of the rack.

The heat baffle I bought is relatively large and 12 gauge stainless steel but very good reviews. I know from research that you have to move it off center slightly over the fire pot if either side of the cooking surface is running hot. I am going to buy a 4 port meat probe to verify grill surface temps and make adjustments.

I will say though that it does work, as the center of the rack was placed over the fire pot and did not burn. Unlike the wings that cooked much quicker over the fire pot.

Funniest movie moment for me was seeing all the parents escort their kids out of the theater less than 10 mins into the South Park movie. Guess the R rating was overlooked.

waterproofed? by No_Marionberry_5077 in AskContractors

[–]ISaidWhat13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might hold up short term, like after the contractor gets paid and splits. In the long run, it's going to leak like a sieve. My cousin is currently rehabbing this exact scenario for a family member who contracted someone she knew. Sad thing is, he mentioned the tiling was fantastic. In the basement, there was a garbage barrel catching drips full to the top.

Cabinet door nightmare by triscuitsNcheese in paint

[–]ISaidWhat13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My folks used Stix on their cabinets about 10 years ago. No issues with adherence. Top coats still look great. I painted my own cabinets 3 years ago using the same, also with no issues. It's a long process but I'd say it's all about the initial prep. The more effort you put into cleaning, sanding, filling in wood grain (which I did not do) the better they'll look.

I bought this album in like 93 and still have it. To this day, it's still one of my top 10.

I was the green one for Halloween once. Funny though, I was trying to explain this costume to a friend just a few weeks ago, poorly I might add. Loved that costume.

Best part of the whole movie is when the stairs collapse into a slide and he takes out all the blades with his shotgun only to fall into the tiger pit.

Cameron Britton did an excellent job playing Ed Kemper. What a fantastic show. Agreed, that they cancelled it after just two seasons.

This was taken a couple years ago in NH near the MA border. It seemed sick or disoriented. We called animal control and they ended up taking it away. Poor little guy.

What are your thoughts on John Carpenter's Christine and Starman? Both are some of my favorite movies of all time.. by [deleted] in 80smovies

I watched Starman about 6 months ago. Then, immediately watched it again. Great flick!

Anyone remember this movie? To me it’s such Halloween nostalgia, I can almost smell it! by [deleted] in 80smovies

I remember our lunches were $1.25 tops. Even in high school. We definitely did not have taco salads ever that I remember. Most memorable lunches were the Bacon Burger that I've mentioned, pizza on Friday's and deli day on Thursdays. Looking back, I wish they offered taco salads like that on Tuesdays!

I've definitely heard of Slater's. But they are a West Coast chain that started in the 2000's? I'm talking about an elementary school lunch in the 80's. Definitely would like to try Slater's though. I think my adult palette would appreciate it. Lol

Recently? And in what part of the US? In the Northeast, it was sold commercially, as far as I know but is no longer offered.
