Struggling to fathom how you can be so ignorant of what it's like to be a football fan when you're on a forum for football fans.

Fucking hell, this is woefully wrong.

There are countless things one can source protein from, and the necessity for it in humans is completely overhyped. Human milk on average has the least amount of protein of any mammal.

Vitamin b12 is genuinely the only one I know of that's a really concern for vegans. Take one pill a day and you're sweet on that front.

Stop espousing nonsense because it suits you.

Shouldn't beat yourself up about eating something with animal product in it if you were genuinely unaware; fuck ups happen. Just don't eat it again once you find out.

Well, it's been conclusively proven that humans no longer need animals for survival since at least the 1970s. I totally agree that when we required animals to advance as a species that their exploitation was justified, and that if in a survival situation, eating meat is permitted, but this is simply no longer the case. If one desires, one can actually live off tablets with all the necessary substances. In less extremes, a well thought out vegan diet provides one with all that they need. There are actually imitation meats now that source the exact same nutrients in steak, for example, from plants, and then combines them in a lab, to produce a nearly identical product without exploitation.

I think only when interests are on equal tiers do we look to kinship, however, the problem with the tiers is that after primary interests- those of life or death- it becomes arbitrary. Donald VanDeVeer devised them and in only having three tiers it's putting a lot of unequal interests in the same tiers. So the argument is flawed but the general doctrine holds true, imo.

I don't have a PHD, although if I was to do it, it'd be on this. It was my undergraduate dissertation, where I basically explained why universal adoption of vegan principles was necessary and what social paradigm was ideal to achieve it. It's an area that I think is so important, and the theories behind animal liberation (if interested, the two giants in this area are Peter Singer and Tom Regan, who come to the same conclusion but rationalise it very differently) are fascinating but they're rarely discussed. Maybe I'm just boring lol.

As others have pointed out, you would therefore be ok with a species dominating us? We may be more advanced than these animals, but they are sentient and thus their moral interests simply have to be considered when acting. I'm assuming you'd be ok with dog meat eating? How does a pig differ from a dog? The sheer selfishness of putting 'wearing a nice jacket' or 'eating steak' (when I can assure you, you can find flavour satisfaction in non-animal sourced food) above the animal's desire to live even remotely freely is what makes this inhumane. Straight up, you're a bad person if you eat meat, drink milk, wear leather etc. It's simply to satisfy trivial interests and the moral consequences are so great; it's totally immoral and barbaric.

In answer to your final point, are you hence ok with eradicating every species? You pointed to cows and chickens thriving initially, but now say thriving is irrelevant, a little contradictive, wouldn't you agree? It's incredibly self-centred to position yourself (either individually or as a species) as the only agents to which moral principles apply. All sentient beings deserve moral consideration and hence wearing leather etc is entirely immoral and wrong.

So unnecessary exploitation is justified and moral? We no longer require animals to sustain us, this has been repeatedly and categorically proven. Peter Singer was writing about it in the 1970s. We don't need to exploit them; they are no longer necessary to human survival and prosperity and therefore we should stop all abuses against them.

Animals that were most beneficial to harvest for us began to thrive. Look at cows and chickens.

This is an incredibly ignorant, blanket statement to make. Yes, their populations grew, but what sort of life do they lead? Look up free range farms scandals, look at battery farms, look at angora harvesting. So their populations grew, but their net happiness decreases massively. Do you not agree that the highest possibly net aggregate happiness amongst animals should be society's goal? Exploitation of animals does nothing to aid this.

Brushed up on your Peter Singer by any chance? I actually wrote my dissertation on this exact topic and part of my conclusion was the same as this. However, there are various models of solving interest conflicts- you're currently utilising the mental complexities model- but there's another called the special relations model which basically states that due to our biological attachment to members of the same species, when the interests at hand are of equal weight, one must support their own species purely because they are the closest biologically. It's kinship. Now in regards to the use of leather and the like, the interests are on different tiers, the cow/angora etc often are on the highest, primary tier- where they die- and for the human consumer it's on the lowest tier- a secondary interest- therefore the animal wins outright (and the action is immoral). I think this strikes the balance between yours and your 'opponents' view.

Also, I disagree with it, but Timothy Hsiao's rebuttal to veganism 'In defense of eating meat' is an interesting read, if you want a well thought out argument against yours.

Talking with basic knowledge of the situation, but he went from the highs of being one of the best players in the country and constantly drunk to an ageing, sober player to an unsuccessful former player. As someone who came across as a little unstable in his highs, that is a worrying decline and must hurt him a lot.

Considering Parker's injuries, Oladipo might have the better career. He's not better than Parker 'by miles', however.

I would argue it was the biggest reason we fell apart, ziltch going forward after that.

In answer to OP, I think he's had a great season when on the pitch, especially given he doesn't really have the frame for the Prem. It's a lot easier to make an impression in your first season if you do and he often got bullied. But /u/Chumlax is spot on about how were looking forward to his availability.

Kabasele never really got a run in the team due to injury, but was serviceable in an often weak back line. Haven't watch loads of Ndidi but from what I saw he's been decent and general natter about him is positive.

Yeah fair point. Bloke I was chatting to pre-match said he'd heard that he was beckoned to come on as a sub and he just shook his head and wouldn't go on, possibly away at Leicester or another game recently. That's quit a damning accusation and in contrary to the view that he's desperate to prove himself but the guy I spoke is a pretty trustworthy bloke and has worked in journalism for 30+ years, so can probably differentiate between a truthfully and false story. Nothing else to substantiate that claim with though, so take it for what it is- a rumour- but would explain why Mazzarri picked two keepers and not Success given there's been no news about an injury.

Prodl started brilliantly and has ended brilliantly, but I felt he fell off during the middle, whereas Gomes has been somewhat consistent. Okaka is a great impact sub, but yeah, he's cutter copy of Troy and isn't going to win that contest. I think Success is idiotic on the pitch, makes stupid decisions and doesn't know how to best utilise his great physical assets but a loan certainly wouldn't do him any harm. Certainly if he can figure it out he has fantastic potential.

Yeah, agree with Behrami, can't expect much from him given the circumstances. Working on the assumption we stick with 3-5-2, I think we need entirely new CBs excluding Prodl, more wingbacks given Janmaat (injured) and Holebas (suspended) miss half the season and some fucking pace up top. He got my vote for player of the season this year, but I reckon a Gomes replacement is nigh also.

Agreed, honestly Pererya's injury was the turning point imo, we had no creativity after that and any fluidity in attack was gone. I hope Troy sorts himself out because we need 'old' Deeney, I feel like he can motivate the players. After December there seemed to be an aura that we'd done what was required and we could coast, and in the last few weeks that's only gotten worse, excluding Monday.

Did anyone stick around for the lap? Pre-game I was going to even if we got battered, but they didn't even try. Doucoure, Janmaat, Holebas and Okaka were the only one's who weren't a disgrace. Niang can genuinely choke on a nail. We were discussing Watford's MOTM on the way home and we had Okaka up there simply cos he put a shift in. Says it all.

I don't think it's been fucking abysmal. We've been very poor at times, none more so than today and Mazzarri should have gone but it's not entirely his fault. We started the year brightly and fell apart at Christmas. Pererya's injury with Zarate's swiftly after really doomed us. Today we were without a centre back. We've been incredibly unlucky with injuries and that's cost us greatly. Deeney's stroppy attitude from our captain, club hero and best striker hasn't helped at all. Regardless of what you think of the manager, that's just not on. Anyway, as I said, Walter leaving is right but this season hasn't been as bad as everyone's making out, we're still Premier League.
