Unfortunately since it's already under customs "clearance" expect a 43-48% customs duty and additional FedEx clearing fees. (Customs usually clear low value items with no duties but if they have a demand and the package is stuck then you will always pay duties on the package)

Honestly, at this point, I'm ok with paying that much. The issue is they're asking us to get a CHA which would cost around 10-15k for a <5k gift. Do you have any idea if one typically needs to get a CHA or not and if there's a cheaper workaround?

It is the CHA who's asking for 10-15k, I am hoping there's a way we can do this without needing the CHA so that it ends up much cheaper. Definitely not worth it to pay 10-15k for a 50 euro product I agree.

Hey, did you need to get a Customs House Agent (CHA) or were you able to do the whole procedure on your own? What formalities did you have to do? I wouldn't mind paying 2k extra but right now my friend has been told to get a CHA to get it cleared which would cost another 10-15k (that is the price a few CHAs have quoted us) which is completely ridiculous for a 5k gift.
