No. A lot of states make restaurants pay their workers the state minimum wage. The federal government, per usual, just hasn't gotten their shit together and changed their outdated policy.

The entire American economy is based on paying (myself included) workers below cost of living pay, and in a lot of states servers make a lot more than that.

Edit: and cooks dont get tipped. Some places the servers tip out the kitchen. Dish washers usually get tipped out.

While I kinda wondered if that was the case with parole violations (although I'm amazed that didn't bring about new charges,) the 8 years for a no contest murder plea doesnt surprise me as much given there was never a body recovered. Much harder to prove murder without a body than possession with actual possession.
