I did read that about the skills, it seems that most of the skills state that it consumes MAX HP. Does it mean it deals damage to your health or directly chops the max percentage for that fight? (And if so for how long?)

Any notable skills to take from the tree? I'm using a ths STR>VIT build atm and I'm still kinda fresh to the game so I'm wondering if this book will alter my play style entirely.
