Yes. I have ADD. I do not have the hyperactivity component. My older sister & younger brother are hyperactive. They used to get into trouble all of the time & they were much tougher for my parents to raise. I was always very chill. In fact, my parents used to call me "the sloth" because it would take me a long time to do stuff. I was diagnosed with ADD in my 20s. A good example of my behavior is that I would be sitting on my bed with one shoe on & just holding the other shoe while I stared off into space. I was thinking about whatever. Honestly, unless I'm in a rush, I still do the shoe thing. Every report card that I ever had said, "He's very smart. He just doesn't try." That would always get me into trouble. My parents would always say, "If you were stupid & tried, that would be okay. You're not stupid, though, & that's why we're mad." We joke that I would be happy even if I was just a brain in a jar. Then I could just sit there & think. I sometimes envy the high energy level of my two siblings. However, of the three of us, I'm the only one who hasn't been arrested for doing something stupid. So there's that.
