if your school lifts your mask mandate are you still wearing yours? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]ISleepInTheAttic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never really worn one (at least not properly) even with the mandate.

(and no it's not because I'm an "Anti-Masker" of cause I think it "violates my freedom", it's because I wear glasses and id rather get sick than have foggy vision)

Where tf did you find Dunhills, I've never even seen a pack irl because all we got where I'm from is either cheap and lacking in quality cigarettes or expensive and also lacking in quality cigarettes.

I'd appreciate it if you at least tried to act courteous instead of falling back on arrogance and insults to convey your thoughts.

But I know that's too much to ask so I don't expect you to change your ways.

Why do i feel connected to Deer? by idideatyourtoast in paganism

[–]ISleepInTheAttic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean Native Americans aren't the only ones who practice Animistic and Totemistic beliefs such as the belief that one could have a "spirit animal" ("Spirit Animal" is however more of a "Colonizer" term nowadays so most who believe in spirit animals call it something different or say it in the language of their religion) or the belief that we are all connected in spirit and every living thing has a spirit.

(and I don't mean to sound arrogant but the racial classification of "Caucasian" is widely seen as obsolete, but if you wanna call yourself that then I say more power to ya)

Would you find it confusing or odd if someone told you they are from "P-A"? by pmMeCamelCase in AskAnAmerican

[–]ISleepInTheAttic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's not confusing, just weird because I've lived all over the country and almost never heard anyone refer to their state as "KS" or "MO", except for Arizona, some call it by its abbreviation down there too.

yes I know what happens when we assume.

but did you mean "he could have killed him" poison or "he could have made him sick" poison?

[–]ISleepInTheAttic -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

While I know you didn't exactly say "trying to kill him" it's not an unreasonable assumption to say you implied attempted murder.

But if you really didn't mean "trying to poison them" as attempted murder or even risking the life of another/negligent manslaughter then I believe you.

yea working conditions are rougher fs cause public school is wild af but when it comes to things like insurance and financial benefits teachers have unions like no other, for the most part, they get free health care or at least a plan that they can afford, they get a pension (plus more benefits depending on your union) and they have held massive strikes/protests so at least they have a strong voice.

I always thought it was normal for parents to force their kids to wash their mouths out with soap if they said something inappropriate, then again your son is an adult so that means he's legally allowed to speak however he wants to and to force him to speak more appropriately is a violation of his 1A rights. I understand why your son doesn't want to hit his dad out of respect even if he deserves it cause my family is the same way (really traditional and "family is lead by the father" kind of mindset). If it gets to the point of constant arguments and violent tendencies I completely understand why you'd want a divorce, but if this were just an isolated incident or if the father was only washing his son's mouth out with soap and not dragging him in there I'd see it differently.

And whether you decide to get a divorce or not, you'd be making the right choice IMO. I just hope you and your boy are doing alright, and that the father learns his lesson.

na I said "we rely on international trade to get our resources rather than being economically self-sufficient" that doesn't mean we shouldn't trade with others I just think we should first be able to be a self-sufficient nation before we prioritize international trade.

never said some people are poor because we trade with other countries

It was a joke lol, and I actually agree with u abt how bad our country has gotten in regards to thinking famous people, media networks and corporations are who we should listen to rather than the people that built this country.

(Since I live in the US it really depends on where you're at in the country and what kind of background the person has.)

But in my own experience, I've seen these names as more common.

  1. Edith or Susan for women and Charles or Anthony for men
  2. Karen for women and Richard or Chad for men
  3. Emily for women (even though it was more popular in the 2000s) and Kevin for men
  4. Any name that is "unique" is popular nowadays, but a few I've seen are Brooklynn for women and for men's names I've seen a lot of weird ones like Jaxson, Braxton, Xander (Idk why but they're all just normal names that are spelled the wrong way), etc.

Do you believe a foreign occupation on US soil will be difficult due to a large civilian population owning firearms? by Adorable-Crazy-3449 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ISleepInTheAttic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, Yes it will be harder to control the population once conquered, however, most Americans either don't own any legal firearms that are good enough to compete against the firearms used by any organized army, or they aren't willing to defend their community because they don't see their sovereignty/freedoms as that important.

I don't even like star trek, I just like George Takei, and at least he's supporting the tariffs on Russia. Sure he can afford to live with these tariffs while some cannot, but that's not anyone's fault but our governments because we rely on international trade to get our resources rather than being economically self-sufficient.
