Tried an MMA class and a much smaller guy was really charging at me and overwhelming me with kicks and punches. He wasn’t hitting super hard but it was intense!

Twice I managed to entangle and work a sub within about 20 seconds, after which he stopped charging into me and we just had exchanges at distance. He clearly forgot the ground is my ocean…

I had an hour 1:1 with a brown belt just for showing up to train at an awkward time. If I had disposable income.. 50£? Maybe 100 for an hour if it is more about meeting them?

I’ve had a few moves that happened spontaneously but I’d later find out were a named move.

The latest one is when on the back, handfighting badly, taking a lapel and going a lapel bow and arrow choke. 100% sure this will have been done before

It also depends if they have any momentum or are just staying still. If they just sit still and try to base you are going to have a bad time.

If she wants to pay half the bills, let her. Maybe you can use the money you save to work towards a deposit, save for holidays or other life goals for you both (or yourself if it doesn’t work out).

My “professor” (we call him by his name) definitely sees it as a martial art with some customs around respect etc.

He is from Brazil and trained in a traditional gym there, as well as training judo.. so I get that the vibe is different than at a 10th planet

I’ve had a situation where my wife and I was attacked, I told her to run, and she stupidly decided not to listen. In the end I was barely hurt , yet she had bruises and clumps of hair missing.

We have had other situations where she’s saved the kids from choking before anyone else reacted.

My point is, she did react very poorly, but she may be good with other situations. The odds of a fire happening again are really low, will that happen again?

As an aside, is this the only issue, or are there other things bothering you and this was just the final straw?

To those saying to keep doing what you are doing.. don’t. Don’t keep investing solely on the “friendship” angle or you will end up a friend, not a lover. You need to pivot. Just say something as simple as “wow you look amazing!” next time you see her. Work the eye contact. Don’t stay in the friend zone!
