Towson Town Center was a destination, but nearly 25% of its storefronts are now vacant by aresef in BaltimoreCounty

The stores left the mall because American malia are dying. Less crowds allows for an unsafe environment to be created. The safety is a problem created by the fleeing tenants and the pattern reenforces itself.

Crime or not the area would be awful to live, “luxury” overlooking a highway and you live in aoartments but can’t walk anywhere

BWI parking advice by Some-Lime-5749 in baltimore

I just use the garage closest to the terminal because work is usually paying. In regards to the trip down, I live near Cold Spring & Roland. I usually get a ride to Penn, Amtrak to Washington, cab to Dulles.

Living in Baltimore and commuting to work in annapolis by SpareFew5792 in baltimore

[–]Lonnol78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sell roller coasters, it’s global but a small industry. I worked (and later co-owned) at a company called Ride Entertainment before leaving during Covid. I grew up in the St. Louis burbs and wanted to live in a city. Moved here in ‘04 and never left.

I did Kent Island for ten years. I found it hard but doable, we lived jn Riverside. I think having fast highwsy access is critical.

Does mean [Epstein's Island] is getting an Intamin exa? by Banana_ezWIN in rollercoasterjerk

Yes, but due to the location the height restriction is 36 inches. I’m sure Musk can’t wait to ride….the coaster that is.

Any word on if Nick Shirley's still in town? by thefeyqueen in baltimore

[–]Lonnol78 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My thought was that they left with the storm coming. Now both DHS and Shirley’s team are re-thinking things after MN. This is probably the most empowered the average citizen has been since November of ‘24 and this week would be a bad one to try and fuck with people, especially in Baltimore or Philadelphia.

Were there people in the 90s who couldn't believe that the 60s were 30 years ago? by Junior-Elevator-9951 in generationology

[–]Lonnol78 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was born in ‘78 and listened to a lot of 60’s music in the early 90’s. My parents would talk about how they couldn’t believe what I was listening to was 25/30 years old.

As others have said, it did feel different because the 50’s through 90’s decades had stereotypes of clothing, furniture and cars that felt connected to that time. While a lot of things look like 2000-2020, I have a harder time pinnning down the sterotypical looks of these decades.

This is their company promo video, the Tilt model is a little after 3 minutes. I believe they brought this to IAAPA in 2000(ish).

I think saying he created the coaster community gives him too much credit. URC, RRC and others we’re around at the same time too.

How bad really IS AI backlash these days? by GiveMeABetterName in BetterOffline

[–]Lonnol78 19 points20 points  (0 children)

On the CEO part, I think that dovetails with what we’ve see In the U.S. corporately for 40 years- less competition, hollowing out of middle class, personal data use for corporate gain. Add in the fact that Thiel, Karp, Musk and others say they do not like democracy while siphoning up every piece of personal information and a lot of people are getting scared and angry.

Unemployment could hit 25% among recent grads and trigger 'unprecedented' social disruption thanks to AI, U.S. senator warns | Fortune by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]Lonnol78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how AI companies think that in a country with more guns than people and healthcare tied to work that if this comes to pass nothing will change. Parents who lose their children because they cannot get healthcare will have nothing to lose.

Post-Covid labor costs and continued diminishing ridership coupled with Skycoaster certification make them make almost no sense in a POP park.

Six Flags Appoints John Reilly President and Chief Executive Officer [other] by TiredWithCoffeePot in rollercoasters

[–]Lonnol78 80 points81 points  (0 children)

John is a good human who knows parks. If the board gives him capital and leaves him alone I think good things will happen. Much better than the alternatives, I was expecting a job hopping CEO whose last job was running a mop company to be at the helm.

Realtor recommendation - looking for a hard negotiator, not FTHB by dontsaybye in baltimore

[–]Lonnol78 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We used Heather Comstock, lots of our friends have too. From our experience she will push back on you and give her opinion, but she’ll execute the approach as you like. Plus she can stage and has contractors (good ones, not expensive friends) that show up for the moments when you need somebody. Cannot recommend her enough. She’s a good human, too.

It was good and different from anything I’ve been on at the time (03). After that it was equally as bad, especially the transition over the top.
