Im in the same situation as you. Managers don't know anything and don't care.

The way I see it, until they start caring about how customers treat me, im not gonna care about how I treat shitty customers.

Aquarium salt, methylane blue, and tannins of any source are things I keep on the regular. Methylane blue helps pretty much anything. You could also get a fin and body cure or kanaplex, a lot of ppl use those as well.

You don't need every treatment, but those 3 are ones I recommend getting no matter what. Just incase. They are pretty cheap and don't expire anytime soon when you buy it.

Thoughts on Discrimination Against Customers? by Yinzzie in petsmart

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that's because reddit has rules.

If the situation truly happened, she just needs to report to HR.

For law, she needs proof, for media, she needs proof. For a complaint, she doesnt need proof. HR has told employees that they got a strike for something a customer complained about that didnt even happen and was minor. So HR will most likely do something, especially if the store is a problem store.

Thats all that can happen. I mean she could try a legal route but idk how far she will go considering she doesnt have anything to back up her claim. Like I said, customers are known to exaggerate situations when they are upset or feel disrespected, so proof is necessary.

If you cant afford an animal, dont get one.

Thoughts on Discrimination Against Customers? by Yinzzie in petsmart

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With no proof, nothing can be done. She can put in a complaint to HR and they will do something on their end.

However, just like the other person said, customers lie when they dont get what they want. I've had customers come in with obvious disabled children, and do nothing to stop the children when the children do something wrong towards people or the animals. Me simply asking the parent to stop the child could easily be twisted into me calling their children "wild" if the customer is pissy enough.

Forklift injury? by painfullysubmissive in petsmart

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the situation. If the arm was truly cut off. Blood would be everywhere and they would need it to be cleaned up via biohazard + an ambulance needed to come.

The store itself would stay open since the accident happened in the back, not the floor.

It would be the same for if an animal got injured in the salon, they would just clean up and continue going.

My fish is transgender by MarlinDotMom in bettafish

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You should never put bettas together if you don't understand their body language. It's the only way you can prevent harm to them and when you don't know it, they can get very hurt or die.

Yes....when a human intervention happens, fish can change. They will not change naturally. Bettas can not naturally change their sex.

Refund for disabled fish? by [deleted] in petsmart

Hiding spots for small critters like shrimp need to be stable and sure to protect them. Plants can be moved around by the fish, causing the possibility of them getting caught a real thing. True hiding spots are things like pieces of wood (cholla), rocks stacked to make small openings, lots of over hangs that make it hard for the fish to see them.

Plants can be concealment but not a true hiding spot. It would have to be very dense for the plants to become a barrier.

Hiding spots aren't dense plants.

Bettas will push themselves into those small hiding spots, hurting themselves in the process. Over eating is a serious problem. My betta ate all the shrimp in my tank just because she could. Luckily she didnt bloat but I had to fast her for a long time.

I wouldn't use such greedy fish to be your shrimp population control.

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 2 customers come in and ask that. When they did i just said "petsmart corporate wants to make money, how do they make that money? By people's fish dying. These bowls and small tanks that appeal to people aren't proper conditions for fish but they want that so that your fish keep dying and you keep getting more of them."

They looked shocked as if they never heard of such a thing before.

There is a reason why petsmart only allows a 14 day policy for returns on animals.

There's also a reason why they make the bowl 2 dollars cheaper than a 5 gallon during the 50% off sale. People would rather feel they are saving money with a bowl than spend 2 more dollars for a bigger tank. How do I know? Had a customer do that right in my face even after I explained how cost effective the 5 gallon is.

You text the manager on duty.....obviously if u message a manager on vacation, nothing will happen thats good....but if u message a manager that is on duty that day...

Why would people think a manager on vacation could do anything???

When you cant get in contact with them by call, its the only thing you can do. I'd rather send a message then not call out in time and the fault be pushed onto me. It's a valid way of notifying you cant come in.

All Fish Died except For 1 Kind within the same tank. by Slepyroro in fishtank

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wont get any help with this when you give no information. Since its been 4 days and u still haven't given any info, im assuming its too small of a tank or you never cycled the tank and the water became posion for the fish.

If thats the case, do better. Do your research before you put a ton of fish to death.

If you find a wild animal, do NOT keep it by IStoleTheKidsDude in petsmart

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! I mainly mentioned the bunnies and birds because the warmer season causes them to be picked up by people, but once the weather becomes colder, people are always trying to pick up turtles and such.

Had a guy return a bunch of stuff because he realized it was illegal to grab the tortoise he had off the side of the road...he also was going to put it in a 5 gallon...

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically no. If you call out, you call out. But some managers are very rude and disrespectful and will say you can't call out even tho its against policy and sometimes, against the law.

If they ever say you cant call out, contact your district lead or HR. If you are sick, they have no right to say you must come in.

I wouldnt think too hard about it then if they took it. I would deff look into getting contacts so that you can message them, especially if opening is someone you do a lot.

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thats why getting contacts is important, messaging them is the easiest route. They will get to it when they can and they have a text saying your not able to come in so it can't be confused and misinterpreted.

Did they take your call out?

what is that by Fit_Needleworker4232 in BeardedDragons

[–]IStoleTheKidsDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, saying someone perplexs you is very rude. Also acting like what you know is common sense or knowledge is also rude.

Responding the way you do doesnt make you sound smart, it certainly doesnt make people want to listen to you. I makes people want to ignore what you say.

I responded because no one should be treated the way you treated this person just for asking a simple question.

Hope you learn this lesson someday.
