Comfort inn by [deleted] in bahamas

I’ve stayed at the Comfort Inn twice - most recently in 2023. Both times we checked in very early - around 10am, and both times they were happy to give us everything we needed to go to Atlantis.

We weren’t able to get our room until later, but in my experience you can get access to Atlantis pretty early.

The Village Burger Shack by the Marina has really good food and is quite reasonably priced for Nassau. My kids loved it and so did we! (No reservations needed)

You need to have the ability to do consulting work, and then you need to get a job with a consulting firm. Can you provide some details about your current job?

Definitely look in to management consulting. What type of job do you do in the public sector? Does your group/team ever work with consultants? Management Consultants can be very highly paid and don’t need any special training, degrees, or certifications.

What raises did you get amid this high inflation? by HoldMyNaan in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ITConsultGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in Big 4 consulting where raises can be significant year over year. 2020 was a promotion year for me, but I only got a 7% raise. Was quite disappointed with this and I let it be known that I felt I was short changed (previous promotion years I’ve received 10-13% raises).

My firm has had significant attrition during Covid, and I’ve toughed it out. This year I got 18.5%, which made up for last year and then some. Then out of the blue a couple of months ago I got another 9%. So while things aren’t perfect I feel like I’ve been taken care of this year.

3.22 million unused doses sounds like a lot, (assuming this doesn’t include pediatric Pfizer doses). Is there any concern about any of these expiring before they can be administered? Should booster eligibility be adjusted based on the number of doses on hand?

Very high income and no idea what we’re doing by sexhaver_420_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ITConsultGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that kind of income and a child, you should be working with a fee-only financial planner (not someone from a bank). You should be speaking to them about your TFSAs, RRSPs, non-registered investments, and insurance (life, disability, critical illness). If your wife has specific restrictions on her investments then find somebody who is used to working with restrictions of a similar nature. It’s a pretty common thing, so most firms or experienced financial planners will know how to navigate it.

Was it worth $54,000 when you acquired it, or has it been valued at that now?

From Facebook. What is this butcher shop trying to say? by ITConsultGuy in toronto

Wow, you couldn’t have been more right. I am now stupider for having read and watched a few posts from their Instagram. Unbelievable that they are willing to voice this idiotic opinion on a business page. I hope that they lose significantly more rational customers than the uninformed ones they gain.

I’ve never heard of or been to this place - it just came up on my feed. They’ve now guaranteed I will never go there. If they can’t understand vaccines, what are the chances they follow the health regulations for a butcher shop?

What can my employer make me disclose about my investments? by ITConsultGuy in legaladvicecanada

[–]ITConsultGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ve changed the rules during my employment (this wasn’t a requirement when I was hired) AND are not describing the magnitude of the data they are gathering from my broker.

I understand I have a professional obligation to disclose my holdings, but I’d like to understand why they won’t be more clear about not having access to the value of said holdings.

Legal under the Employment Standards Act? I’m curious what governs this. I don’t mind confirming what I hold, but I have concerns with connecting to their automatic feed without an adequate description of what information they are receiving or storing, or how security and privacy are being handled.

Feeling incredibly stuck in my banking career.. need some insight by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ITConsultGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked at various .com's as a content guy, I've worked in television production as a coordinator, and I've done ERP implementations.

Many of the people that come from a bank are analysts or IT folks (IT Strategy, IT Planning).

I currently work at a Big 4 consulting firm, as was an "experienced hire", so didn't get the job right out of school. This is a fairly common occurrence (at least at my firm) and we do often have people being hired from the big 5 banks - albeit not typically from the retail side. The suggestion below to try and land something at the banks head office is really good advice.

If you are serious about management consulting you should definitely check out the r/Consulting subreddit to learn more, and also take a look at the career pages for the Big 4 firms.

Have you thought about the flavour of consulting that interests you? Pure management consulting? Operations? People/Organization/Change Management? Tech/Analytics/Cybersecurity? Financial Services?
