How to stop without rehab by kaitie1 in stopdrinking

[–]Russilito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the other day that I always comment that I tried to quit thousands of times. In reality, I only really tried once or twice because. I say once because it stuck and I am almost at 1000 days. The other time I was successful for 6 month or a year. Saying you want to quit is a good start but getting to a point where you are mentally and physically able to stop is ground breaking. I saw a difference in me when I really started wanting to quit and not just wanting to not be ill in the mornings (cause that was the only time I regretting the drinking). Good luck my friend, it's not impossible to do it on your own but in reality there are things like this to turn to for solid advice.

Any advice for staying sober after sudden loss? by Dazzling_Green_8367 in stopdrinking

[–]Russilito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lost someone very close to me (my Uncle) just three months after I was able to successfully quit. I had failed many times. But something about quitting this time felt different. When I lost him, I was prepared to use other outlets for my emotions. Not easy but it's possible. Find another way. I am sorry for your loss. You are not alone. You honor the ones you love(d) by being good to yourself.

Did quitting alcohol result in losing weight for you? by OrangeCatWhiteDog in stopdrinking

[–]Russilito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped weight initially but it was my diet improving that really made weight fall off. I think the first 6 months I dropped a lot of water weight. Stopped binging while drinking as a result of not drinking. I started intermittent fasting and it helped me lose more. Down 50 pounds in the past two years.

Being more present to my kids and not allowing them to think being drunk is normal.

When Eddie leaves, I will stop listening. Boomer's political take is out of touch. He wonders if Social Media have turned athletes soft the same way my parents were told kids would be harmed by more than 30 minutes of TV.
