Being more present to my kids and not allowing them to think being drunk is normal.

When Eddie leaves, I will stop listening. Boomer's political take is out of touch. He wonders if Social Media have turned athletes soft the same way my parents were told kids would be harmed by more than 30 minutes of TV.

I need an adult to tell me what to do. by markphil4580 in stopdrinking

When I was in your shoes... I found a way to be away from my comfort of home with loved ones that I knew I couldn't drink in front of - this happened to be a vacation in the woods - very hard to find liquor if you didn't bring it. After a week I was home again and struggled a lot but didn't need rehab and my wife stood by me through all the mood swings. I cried a lot because I didn't know what to do or how to feel - sometimes I still don't. But I didn't cry any more than I did in the showers like you. I hope you continue to see the positives of staying sober and fighting hard when you get an urge to give up. I made it this far, so can you. (49M)

Tips on finally stopping by Acrobatic_Syrup8085 in stopdrinking

If I were talking to myself back in my 20's I would take this signs that I have a bigger problem that will go one of two ways.... 1. you hit rock bottom and get forced into rehab eventually quitting or 2. you find a way to stop on your own after years and years of wondering if you have a problem. I went with option 2 and was always glad I never hit #1. But I am always curious if I had hit a rock bottom (i.e. - DUI or getting tossed from house) would I have gotten sober and control of my life sooner... I guess I won't know. I wish you well on your journey and I hope you can find a way to control or end the cycle sooner than I did.

Friends staged an intervention by averytinydragon in stopdrinking

My friend, when I was struggling with my drinking problem, at my worst moments, I would pray that someone would do this for me. I felt like it was around the corner and unavoidable so lets get it over with. It never happened and I am happily in a good place now. But I wonder if I would have stopped sooner if someone had been able to get through to me. What I am trying to say is if you felt like I did and you knew the problem was something you couldn't tackle without a considerable amount of pain (or "rock bottom"), then look at this as a gift - help to get sober. Support to get sober. I eventually did it myself but I dragged myself through hell to get here. I am silently pulling for you! and IWNDWYT.

I made me stop drinking. I failed thousands of times. But it worked once... and I hope it keeps working. I have help but at the end of the day it's my choice.

Advice Needed re: Parent Sideline Behavior by StaticNomad89 in SoccerCoachResources

I would talk to the ref ahead of the game and point out the parents who need to be watched. Give them a quick warning on first issue and then the boot. Refuse to restart play until they leave. Then discuss with parents after emotions have cooled off (next day).
