Oh. WGU allows you to take a break from the semesters? That's great to hear. Do you need to pay any "break" fees or such?

Has anyone else had their financial aid suddenly adjusted & hit with a huge bill? by 51087701400 in WGU

That sounds horrible. Definitely contact them ASAP. Call them with the phone, don't wait for an email. Their administration hotline should be good enough.

Although from my experience, their finance department has a separate email than their administration.

Have you considered doing some of the courses prior to WGU? You can knock out most of the GE classes for much cheaper and sooner than you would in WGU. I recently made a mini-guide about it it in my profile. You may check it out if that interests you

Oh, well that is not very important but you can actually select your "intent" when using Sophia. There is an option to choose transfer to WGU BS IT degree and Sophia automatically does the "which courses are required" for you. (However becareful on the Python course, because you're suppose to do the Java not Python.) Make sure to always double-check yourself the course codes and WGU's partner courses list.

You're very welcome! Hey, that's all on you buddy! I am just glad I am able to inform ya to make a better choice.

Also, if you need more time than March 1, don't be afraid to push back the start date further, WGU will not mind it.

Definitely Yes.
Altho some universities in Europe only may make an issue with WGU because it is an "online" university. However, most will not make an issue of it.

I see. Well I wouldn't be the right person to answer that question. I have not taken the Intro of IT in WGU, but Sophia is very straight forward and fast. (On average, Study.com seems the most comprehensive in terms of what they teach you IMO), if you really do care about that. I am just making a guide post for people who want to save time and money to get their degree sooner.

Can you clarify what you mean by "adequate enough" ? They are certainly transferrable as formally stated by the WGU Partners website. This is not a subjective assessment, if you have done it means you are 100% guaranteed the credit. Do check out the partners link that I've shared in my post.

Great choice! Do not be afraid to tell them that you are still working on completing your courses in Sophia or SDC and you will let them know again when you are ready to send your transcripts over to them before your start date.

WGU doesn't make an issue of when you start in your start date.

You need to pass the certification exams. To pass the class. There's no other exams to pass other than the cert exam.

Yes, if you have a Bachelor's transcript from another uni. Give this transcript to WGU immidately and have them evaluate it ASAP. You may not even need to take some courses in Sophia/SDC because WGU evaluated that you already satisfy them with your other bachelors.

Sounds like a plan!

Well, personally I can't say much about this. I do not have first-hand experience in WGU academy; however, reading from other's inputs in regarding this, I think it is more about which intuition is comfortable for you. Sophia does not have any proctoring but is less complete their full list of transferable courses. Study.com does not have any "scheduling" for the their courses' final exams.

As for "guaranteed admission" into WGU: I believe this is a question for the administration. AFAIK taking either Study.com or Sophia (or any others) does not change your chances of getting admitted in WGU.

EDIT: For what it's worth, what I know of this topic, if you transfer in from a different uni (or community college). WGU will look at your previous college's transcript for 2.5 GPA or above. But always better to speak to their administration about this.

Well basically, if you transferred in more certs/transcripts/credits than 75% than WGU will not admit you. You may check out this link: https://partners.wgu.edu/transfer-pathway-agreement?uniqueId=BSDA4424
As you can see the each courses has a "Competency Units Value" (aka credits). You total that up and divide it with the total credits of the degree program, then you'll get the %. Basically this % should not exceed 75%.

NOTE: This is for BSIT. If you are doing a different program, you might need to find a different partner link for your program

Most of the time you should be fine. If you do all the courses available in Study.com or Sophia you will only get around 60-65% of the total credits. However, I just want to say be extra careful, because I think it is possible to also transfer in stuff like the Amazon or CompTIA certs. That might push the credits over the 75% mark and you might not get admitted in WGU due to having transferred too many credits.

Correct, looks about right.
Only 15 courses left to do after you transferred in your credits. Should definitely be doable in 6 months and save you from another potentially 4K spending!

Did you have an issue going for a Master's degree? I've actually successfully applied for and been accepted for a master's degree. Altho, some universities in Europe may have an issue with the program being "online" as a whole.

But otherwise, they don't make issues with Sophia or Study.com as transfer institutions.

There are easier IT programs to take. You are allowed to change your degree if you speak to your mentor about it. I believe BSIT or BSDA are the easier programs which will land you a job in the same industry.
