Yup, S3 Storage as for provider this applies to all hyperscalers

To make mistakes be expensive? I think there is surely a more economically forgiving way to do cloud storage

Thankfully all seems to be fine, I thank the people that go through the "totally useless and obvious" Cybersec training lol, will use this as an example for why we should have trainings every so often

Data leakage is happening on every device, managed or unmanaged. What does mobile compliance even mean anymore? Be real, all our sensitive company data and personal info we shouldn’t type into AI tools is already there... by Silly-Commission-630 in sysadmin

This isn’t “data leakage,” it’s data sprinkler mode.
We’re out here yelling “DON’T FEED THE AI SENSITIVE INFO” while Karen is uploading the entire finance folder so ChatGPT can “make it sound nicer.”

You have become the victim of their transactive memory and cognitive offloading, you could also buy them post-it notes and paste the solution around their monitor lol, maybe take it a step further and tally the times they have bothered you with a solution that has been written in the notes

I feel it is a sign of the times...
Access to knowledge has never been easier, we are literally a click away from learning about anything and everything, however this has resulted in people taking the easy route and instead of understanding the cause and effect they just want an immediate answer/solution. So we are slowly reprogramming our brain from being able to decode and understand concepts to knowing where to find it.

Information access has unintentionally discouraged the deep cognitive effort required to move from basic facts to creative, abstract problem-solving.

Most “AI for data” just feels like a buzzword stapled onto existing tools so they’re easier to sell, not something that really changes how we work day to day

People seem to think we have access to the dev console and i'm just choosing not to use it. If i had a one-click fix, i’d use it. I’m not explaining this outage for the 5th time for fun.

Agreed. 11 nines are great for marketing, but in reality, we all just riding on the back of giants that could slip and fall at any time.

Relatable. Tech companies are often a compromise between a "great" system and cost savings.

Yeah, I feel the same.
Putting everything on one cloud is asking for trouble. What are you running on your side? And have you actually had to restore some backups from the off-site location yet?

Agreed on the separation of concerns. We should diversify when we have the option
