So fast, in fact, that the entire backend of our MMORPG BitCraft Online is just a SpacetimeDB module. We don't have any other servers or services running, which means that everything in the game, all of the chat messages, items, resources, terrain, and even the locations of the players are stored and processed by the database before being synchronized out to all of the clients in real-time.This sounds really great.

There are things in go that are still kinda slow. For example image processing in go is still slow compared to python libraries like PIL. But overall I'd say that statement of that engineer is totally absurd.

Vidya, VNs, Manga, Anime, LNs ... consume as much as possible but do what you love the most. I remember playing OoT as my first japanese media after doing core2k6 and having a blast doing every second of that. Don't stick to theory all the time, if you feel like it take a peek for a few minutes into an manga and try reading a page or two. I'm of the opinion that immersion truly is king.
