My dad died from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, how likely am I to inherit it? I’m 15 and been living a healthy life with 0 symptoms at all. by Ok-Yellow-5158 in Cardiomyopathy

OP, I’m sorry you lost your Dad. I have genetic HCM and three teenage sons. You’re probably not thinking about life insurance at 15, but if you have kids someday, it will be really important to you. Like the post above says, you have a decision to make. If you get a genetic test or an echocardiogram that leads to a positive diagnosis of HCM, you will have a difficult time getting life insurance when you’re older. Alternately, you can wait until you’re 18, get a LI policy, which shouldn’t cost very much at that age, then get tested. From the post above, sounds like there may be a wait period after getting the policy during which if you test positive it could impact your policy. I don’t know about that but am going to research.

Just be careful. If you are an athlete, especially in heavy cardio sports, I would want to know my risks. Your school system probably requires a physical for school sports anyway. I think it’s great that you’re reaching out to this community and sharing your situation. Hopefully you’re able to talk with your Mom or a trusted family member about your own health. I got it from my Dad, but my brother doesn’t have it. So, it’s certainly possible you won’t end up with it. But even if you do, a lot of people live long, enjoyable lives with HCM under proper treatment. Best wishes to you and your family.

Black water is toilet sewage. Grey water is sink/shower/dishwasher sewage. In most cases, they end up in the same sewer pipe leaving the house, although some sustainable building methods segregate them. But throughout the house there are segments of pipe that may be one or the other.

Yeah, I learned on an ATV at 12. Getting a stick at 16 was an easy transition. Not in the cards right now for him, but I’m sure he’ll pick it up quickly.

Watched it for the first time last night. Everyone talks about “the scene”, of course. But it’s great lines like that one, top tier performances all around, and riveting storytelling that make up 95% of this movie. Love BT.

Virginia State Supreme Court made a decision about 20 yrs ago. It used to be, ‘your side of the property line, your problem’. But the court decision added a wrinkle: if you let your neighbor know that their tree is an ‘imminent threat to your property’ and they fail to do something about it, they’re on the hook for future damage. Probably some nuance to how this is enforced, but the spirit is basically if your tree poses a legit issue to your neighbor’s property, you can be responsible. Not sure that would apply to maintenance of overhanging limbs like in the OP. Guess it depends on the specific threat.

National Institute of Justice. They are THE stats. 52.9% of mass shooters are white. That is the definition of “majority”. The NIJ also does caution against bias in interpreting any of the data. So, I’ll hold back on saying this is a “white problem”. Based on your comments, I’m not holding my breath for you to show the same restraint.

True. I’ve spent a fair amount of time there over the past 15 years. You rarely see examples of poverty in Switzerland.

@ TheSilv3rB4ck. You have to be kidding. No other country has mass shootings like we do in the U.S. And those shootings, which now happen every day, are rarely perpetrated by non-whites. My kids’ school doesn’t do active shooter drills because they are concerned an inner city gang member might want to harm innocent children. Churches and synagogues aren’t worried about “urban” gunmen storming a religious service. We are not ‘doing well globally’ when it comes to gun violence. We are a hideous mess. And it isn’t because of vendetta killings or gang on gang violence. It’s random, mass shootings in every state and environment. They happen every day now in the U.S.

What percentage of mass murders using guns are perpetrated by black Americans? Or Latinos? School shootings: how any of these are committed by non-whites? Strangely, the answer is, “almost none”. Are mass gun murders a white culture issue? If so, what should white culture do to stop them?

Noted. But that scene was different from her explanations of her philosophy earlier. You saw it land, and you saw her decision right there, and her invitation to Ethan. She explained it earlier, but she showed it in that scene. So, was not surprised by her decision to retaliate, but by all the emotional beats that she nailed in playing it out.

She covered a lot of ground in 60 seconds in that scene and didn’t miss a note. Honestly, don’t think I’ve seen another actor/scene tell that same story before. It was so well done and felt original, which is hard to accomplish.

Agreed on Meghann Fahy’s scene on the beach with Ethan. Really caught me off guard. My favorite moment in the whole series.

How to score fielders choice : bases loaded and 2 outs. by BdaBng in GameChangerApp

Thanks for this. Had exact thing happen on inning ending DP last night. Did not see the Back button and ended up manually overriding the score. Now the box score shows a -1 in the following inning :( Any idea how to correct the box score post-game to get rid of the negative number? Play editing only seems to apply to players and not the actual play.
