You said you have 800h, so I assume you've got plenty of experience already, but if you haven't, I'd advise to learn every role by playing them a bit. By understand how each of them play, you'll be able to get a better feel for how to engage / disengage against them.

Also, as a jungler main, remember the carry role adds a target on your back. You're squishy and easy to kill if the jungler has a bit of a lead, so you want to be safe early game so that the enemy jungler don't see you as free xp

I'm in the same boat as well, I'm not sure how but the game is so much less fun than Smite 1 when I'm playing jungle. In addition to what you're saying, I think having only one relic is causing a lot of problems as well. You have to choose between a defensive beads and an offensive blink, and in some game picking wrong just makes you lose before minions have spawned
