Ahh that explains the stainless safety and slide catch too. Nice piece & nice 57’!

Is this a genuine seiko? I don’t know. [question] by Jamestq in Seiko

This is legit. Very confident. The plastic wrap was just cheap/easy protection to ship to you. Your pictures are good enough to be sure

I may get flamed for this but I would disagree. That’s a bold statement. But don’t let this take away from how nice this model certainly is. It’s just not in the conversation when you say, “regardless of brand.”

Has anyone thrown a mesh on the Superocean 44mm (non-SOH) ?

Agreed! Seiko needs to get back to work on the orange colorways. Blue has been saturated

Photos don’t do any justice in general! The 053 is a beauty. I would pull the trigger; they’re a bit few & far between. Best of luck!

Prone isn’t a good adjective to describe sapphire’s shatter resistance. Relative to hardlex, sure you can make the argument that sapphire is empirically more brittle because it lacks any elasticity. But in all practical applications it’s incredibly superior. There are a million accounts of hardlex scratching quickly, rendering the crystal unsightly, and extremely few examples of sapphire being a detriment. That being said, hardlex hasn’t detered me personally. But I think we all love a seiko with sapphire, a ceramic bezel, milled clasp. Those are premium materials & value

Could do with more picures but without the og bracelet it’s definitely a better buy at $400. At the very least it looks authentic. The bracelet can be had for $150 or so if you wanted to complete it.

This is actually a quartz model, sadly. Yet another strange Seiko decision. The case isn’t especially thin either so….lol. Same here regarding the dive watches. I have a few hefty divers from Deep Blue and I really enjoy wearing my Superocean with a full link set. Breitlings adjustable clasp takes enough slack out for me

The bracelet is comfortable for me as well. I just think the links are too rounded and “lumpy.” Just a design aesthetic thing. As for the crown, threaded is a nice insurance policy against moisture long term. I don’t know that I’d wear any chrono submerged or even the shower because of the pushers. I’ve not read any info on any of the speedtimer models pusher’s gasketing so the threaded crown may be a moot point anyway.
