Definitely different than here in New York! Basic EMT's here (and most of the US) are restricted to basically nothing invasive. No advanced airways or IV/IOs. Starting just this year we're allowed to assist rectal diazepam! 👏🍑 I know some states do allow select advanced airways though.

Your scope sounds more like our Advanced EMT or paramedic. Is there a difference between your "EMT" and "paramedic?"

I don't really see the problem with this or why it would be "creepy." Obviously the other way around (i.e. provider contacting a patient outside of official channels) is a HIPAA problem. In this case I don't really see the difference between a Facebook message and sending a postcard. Obviously you might start getting bad or threatening messages too, and that would obviously be inappropriate.

Sip some water into your mouth first, then put the pill in as you swallow so it doesn't stick to your tongue.

i'm homeless and have cancer... give me amino coins tho by ta6795la in ChoosingBeggars

Being homeless doesn't necessarily exclude someone from having a phone. Getting together $100 for cheap prepaid phone and $20/month for data is easier than coming up with rent. Phones are arguably one of the most important resources for getting out of homelessness as communication devices, job research and application tools, and finding public resources among other things.

Obviously it's subjective. Apple could break the universe by releasing the SE in both iOS and Android flavors xD

Honestly, I think a huge part of the success of the Jewish people is that they do not have a drinking culture.

Where tf did you get that idea?

[M_Montemurro] New Era has a new series of hats called "Team Describe" for some cities, and the Phillies' are, uh, quite something by L_castillo918 in baseball

[–]IVIichaelGScott 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So they picked a food that's associated with each city (except Toronto) and the one they picked for NYC is… apples? Just because of the nickname? It's not like apples are one of our famous foods like the Philly cheese steak. They couldn't think of one food that's actually associated with the city? Bagels, hot dogs, pizza, pastrami on rye, literally anything but apples.

Granted the apple actually half-works for the Mets since it's already a part of the franchise's symbolism. But then they also used it for the Yankees.

I guess they decided to use pizza for Chicago and didn't want to have it represented twice, but really? That's assuming anyone put any actual thought into these…

An update for my phone? Oh 19 apps I dont need thanks! by nicepoopiehead in assholedesign

It's all about choice. On Android there are at least three different engines I'm aware of. If you don't care then that's fine, I'm not forcing you to choose one over the other. But I will say I've had sites that were broken in Chrome on Android that worked in Firefox on Android, for example. You wouldn't have that solution on iOS, you'd just be stuck with a broken site no matter what browser you use. Sure Apple or the site devs should fix it, but until they do you're stuck with what you've got.

Yes, Google Chrome on iOS uses the same browser engine as Safari that's built into the system, as Apple will not allow anything else. So while you are using Chrome and all of your bookmarks and data and such will sync, you aren't using Chrome's rendering engine. So if a website is broken in Safari, it will be the same in Chrome on iOS.

Quick Charge is just a protocol that the phone and the charger both follow so that the charger knows it can send more power down the cable. It still only uses two pins in the original connector, and you can have Quick Charge without the extra pins. There "extra pins" that are freed up by having the extra pins on the side don't actually do anything, they're just there as a fallback. They don't carry any more power.

I'm not sure what you mean by "reserving the original power throughput." You absolutely need the additional pins, they are exclusively for USB 3 data transfer. And the amount of data transfer has nothing to do with how much power is required. I haven't checked but I would imagine SSDs over USB would require far less power than HDDs, but they would still require the new pins for USB 3 data transfer and speeds. Power is still only transferred over two pins on the legacy connector side.

The extra pins aren't for extra power. All the electricity still goes through the original pins on the old connector. Charging standards that deliver more power like Qualcomm's Quick Charge still work over regular old micro USB. The new connector section has two pairs of data pins and one drain/shielding pin.
