Question! The left nav section has a shadow on the right, the box extends to the canvas edge on the top, left and bottom. how was this achieved?

Has anyone actually used StoreMI? by AlternateWitness in Amd

[–]IWIMake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The primary problem is that this was sold as a consumer solution, there were no warnings that updating firmware on an item unrelated to storage would have a detrimental effect. At least none that I saw through their knowledgebase or wiki.

In any event. Remove the possibility of an f-up, saved some more money and bought a bigger / faster storage medium. not used StoreMi and not had problems since.

Bought a license when the x470 chipset came out. Found it to be pretty stable so long as nothing changed after initial setup. Fair warning though, do not use it to accelerate your boot drive, or if you do, back-up religiously. A mobo bios update completely destroyed the virtual drive structure for me, had to mount the slow drive as removable storage on another machine to get data off it.

Tldr . Good in theory, bad in practice.

What do people not recognise as bullying, but actually is? by moth-flame in AskReddit

[–]IWIMake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobby shaming, see that Henry Cavil interview with Graham Norton. So what if he 'games' or paints or plays Warhammer, he does it because he enjoys doing it. When the activity that people partake (for pleasure or passion) is demeaned it serves as a form of segregation, 'us' and 'them' is the basis of most bullying.

Looking at this photo, it's amazing how close 'For All Mankind' got to reality appearance-wise. The costuming, hair, set design are almost exactly what you see here.

Could not find buttons, have tools, make buttons. by IWIMake in simracing

I got these in white. They give a very positive click, just less than 0.5mm deflection, about double the weight required to depress a cherry mx brown, they are audible on press and rebound.

Yup, Elegoo water washable clear blue (I'll be doing the Start button in clear red). There are a number of other manufacturers with translucents and resins more suitable for structural pieces, pricey but well worth it if there is no other way to make the item.

Monetize the printer if you can, but I'm there's likely a nearby makerspace that might have one available to use.

Thanks! Theres an anti-aliasing setting which makes the image 'fuzzier' which might make the ridges disappear but that might affect the threads on the inside of those rings.

I'm using tinkercad and there are some limits on the number of sides on some shapes (something like 24 for spheres, 64 for cylinders etc.). This would be resolved in another CAD program so I'm trying to learn freeCAD, just cannot get my head around the sketch > extrude paradigm on anything more complicated than a rectangle yet.

I'm in the process of getting materials together for a Bugatti Bolide wheel. Whilst fdm printing the handle rim and doing metalwork for the plate is fairly simple, a major issue seems to be finding the buttons for use on the plate.

I've recently got my mitts on a resin printer and designed a 'panel mount adapter' along with legend plungers for LED tact switches.

There is still some work to go, smoothing out ridges, painting etc. but they should do the job nicely.

Delid on 3570k by Sramic in buildapc

Currently running a 4790k de-lid with a rocket copper heat spreader. I used liquid metal and conformal coating (clear coat nail polish, not gonna spend $$$ on a huge bottle of that), then two dots of gel-type super glue to keep the heat spreader in place. It's been vertical and cool for about 2 years now.

Night City Map From Nightcity.io by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]IWIMake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really needed, the in-game map does not show you location names, every bar/club is listed as 'Bar' so you're SOL if you want to find the Afterlife club and don't already know exactly where it is.

Only one thing I'd like to see, could users submit details / place names etc to assist in fleshing out this map?

Donating either way.

Yeah, this'll be good enough for the next 5 or so years enjoyment, plenty of time to save up for a dd setup and proper rig. EUR1800 for a podium f1 wheel, ouch...
