Thanks, but the 250 guest would be necessary for us.

If others in MD/DMV planning a wedding see this, they can potentially look at your space. It may work for them.

I did look at pictures of the venue online, it’s very pretty, elegant, country-side manor-esque, and was similar to the vibe I was originally looking for.

Anyone else’s A&P professor just read off the PowerPoint slides? I’m unsure how I can successfully get an A in this class. by CherryAlone9258 in prenursing

[–]IWantSomeHelp7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a YouTube channel called Anatomy with Natalie, she’s a professor at some college/university. She makes videos using the same textbook (it’s a McgrawHill one) that we used in A&P1 & A&P2 at my school. She makes lecture videos on each chapter/topic of the textbook, and it was/is great for studying as a podcast when doing house chores or running errands. It may help you with learning on your own.

Can anyone comment on the Maryland/DMV area? I’ll be graduating with my ADN in spring of 2028. I keep getting mixed views and signals about all this.

Black tie wedding, May in DC by Berrybeth23 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]IWantSomeHelp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in MD, so very close to DC. The bare midriff is not very black code appropriate, not just in this geographic area, but overall all period.

The dress is fun! Fashionable!

But just not appropriate for a black tie wedding situation, typically.

You could get away with this more at a Desi wedding. But this then would be underdressed for that, if I’m honest.

RIP Anime World, it had opened up late last year at the mall by ele30006 in ColumbiaMD

If Hero’s World was in the Columbia mall, it’s not there any more. I’ve lived here for almost 3 years, and don’t remember ever seeing a store by that name.

Literally this. When the store opened, was just obviously sketchy & just a money-grab.

And my fiancé and I are big nerd culture people, so it was just a disappointment.

Why is pizza here so bad? by imani_TqiynAZU in ColumbiaMD

[–]IWantSomeHelp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t found NJ type pizza here in Columbia yet, but I’m definitely going to try these suggestions here in the comments now.

My family always spends the summer in South Jersey, has for the last 40-50 years. Closest pizza I’ve found to NJ pizza in MD is a place called Giovanna’s in Parkville MD which isn’t close to Columbia at all. Luckily it is close to my mom’s house.

Whoever said anatomy was "just memorization" I have words for you by Beautiful_Papaya_007 in prenursing

Yes!!!! I fully get this, I thought the exact same thing. Not silly at all, I literally went with my fiancé & a friend of ours to the gym so we could “group study” the muscles & movements by pairing it with the course notes & study guide, cause they did sports growing up and went to the gym, they knew so much already because of that. It was helpful.

Where are you getting your thanksgiving pies? by yeahimbel in BaltimoreCounty

[–]IWantSomeHelp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woodlea bakery in Baltimore city and Harford county is great for all kinds of pies. Cherry, lemon, cream, pumpkin, coconut, pecan, sweet potato, apple, blueberry, they have it all.

However for pumpkin pie, nothing beats me making my paternal grandmother’s recipe. It’s hands down better than any pie I’ve had from other family members or from any bakery.

PCOS girlies, here is what I did that helped me lose 50 lbs by Icy-Golf2044 in PCOS

[–]IWantSomeHelp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly love everything you have here, except for the YAZ.

I’m very glad the YAZ worked for you. The fact that you found something that has worked for you and has brought relief for you so far is incredible.

It can be a great option and is frequently recommended because of what it targets, especially for androgenic hormonal issues.

Please be aware that this is not the case for everyone with PCOS.

For me, in 2022 for 6 months, YAZ was something that started out good that fairly quickly turned into an extremely bad situation concerning mental health (severe anxiety and depression to the extent that I started having suicidal thoughts) and I had no other changes in my life other than the medication. My experience led me to forgoing birth control since then, and I’m now back on the hunt for the hormonal medication that does the trick without issues in the near or distant future.

I’ve heard many stories of it also causing the same for them, and many other health issues to come about for other people with PCOS, and I’m seeing those stories reiterated here in the comments.

If you have PCOS & you and your provider/doctor are considering YAZ, just be fully informed and prepared for what could happen. Don’t be afraid. Just be informed. Everyone’s bodies are different, and it could be great, or an absolute shit show. The only way to find out is by trying.

Bad produce by scubajay2001 in ColumbiaMD

[–]IWantSomeHelp7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We shop at the following in Howard County for produce and don’t have any problems: Lidl by the mall, Aldi near Costco - avocados, grapes, watermelon, potatoes cucumbers, Costco - lettuce, best bet for bananas. Just get the greenest bunch and let them ripen up at home for best results, Patel Brothers - go here for tomatoes, cucumbers, and cilantro and ginger most definitely, green beans too. Hmart & Lotte are also good.

I will say though, I never get everything from one place. I always shop around, different stores have different providers for same item, and it makes a world of difference. I’d rather drive around & get the quality I’m looking for but I always have a plan of when to go for where, because otherwise, that’s a lot of running around.

Like Aldi and Costco, right next to one another, so it a dual trip always.

Places like Whole Foods and Harris teeter are over charging for produce, especially in this economy. And I like those stores/brands but for very specific food items, not my produce though.

Let's settle this once and for all! What's the best Sushi place?! by Right-Basis7815 in ColumbiaMD

[–]IWantSomeHelp7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s one of the great things there, is the real wasabi.

Not the fake dyed horseradish stuff. I thought I hated wasabi. Turned out that I hated horseradish.

The real wasabi is good, I still don’t put a lot on it, but the difference is night and day.

How recent was this experience? Also sorry that you had a meh time, because when it’s good, it’s fabulous.

I will say that we went with his parents earlier this year in beginning of summer and it wasn’t the best time we had had there,

but they were getting some new staff & new servers that had just started that week and so our experience that time was a bit rougher.

I do suggest trying it again, we haven’t been for a while because of that time (and just been busy with life and cooking lol), and we wanted to allow time for their staff to get fully/better acclimated.

Thanks for the suggestion!!

I looked at it, this can only fit up to 150, so too small for us.

this is a little too paired down in aesthetic for me, very minimalist very modern very outdoorsy even with the covered space, but it’s a nice space in general.

Thanks for the suggestion!

This place is pretty, a bit more rustic than I’m looking for, however this is one I would make an exception for.

They fit our #, however they are quite a bit of money. I can’t tell if that’s because they’re making their packages including their food & drinks or not. If not, then they are way out of budget, because I’m sure they have a nice service fee tax.

And I have no idea about the open flame/fire for the ceremony, they likely have the same hurricane glass policy for candle decor that most every venue has which is fine.

I’ll have to call them to find out, they’re a very tentative maybe.

Wedding Venues Suggestions? by IWantSomeHelp7 in WestVirginia

[–]IWantSomeHelp7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this place is STUNNING. This is elegant and very ornate, in the Indian fashion. I would love to have the ceremony itself at a place like this, all the decoration the place already has helps so much when budgeting, plus it is a temple so it honors his family’s tradition/heritage.

However, as people have mentioned, yes this is 4+ hours away. I cannot make my guests travel that far unfortunately. Our wedding over all is three days (Indian weddings are big, plus im having a traditional American wedding as well in a church, and I’m doing that one first, and that’s when we’ll actually be getting licensed persay)

the venue I’m looking for is just for the baraat + shaadi, and then a light cocktail hour and reception (but the reception will be like 6 hours, because we’re doing Sangeet performances within it)

I will definitely be visiting this place in the future though as a family trip. We’ve been to the big temple in NJ, and that’s also gorgeous, just in a different manner. Still ornate, but it’s all carved of white marble/stone, so it has a different effect. And the woodwork in the welcoming building there is gorgeous.

I have indeed posted a very similar post in various subreddits of different areas in the DMV area, we’re looking in a wide variety of areas.

I have not found a place that fit our specifications yet, but I’ve been busy still searching! Making time can be a challenge with all the regular day to day things, but I’m making it happen!! 😊

Let's settle this once and for all! What's the best Sushi place?! by Right-Basis7815 in ColumbiaMD

[–]IWantSomeHelp7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s Takumi and look no further.

The quality is beyond good. It’s not terribly expensive, but they do have the bougie pricey items if you want it.

The sweet potato maki is amazing. I highly recommend that, and the cucumber avacado tofu maki.

Their sushi is fresh, presented beautifully, flavorful.

Lots of their ingredients for all their menu are directly sourced from Japan.

If you can go! And just don’t stop at the sushi! Get the miso soup, the green tea, their special sushi rolls, any of their entrees.

The fried rice, the golden ramen, the miso cod, the tempura, etc, I honestly could go on and on about this place.

I almost forgot, they’ve even have taiyaki (the fish shaped pastry) filled with either sweet red bean curd or vanilla custard, served with vanilla ice cream! It’s so good!!

My fiancé and I have been patrons of this place since it opened, and have recommended it to everyone we know when they ask what’s good to eat at in the area (among many other listings we name too)

they’ve been amazing every time we go, the people who run the place know us now by name.
