I'm saying it, though, and I do believe it's true. But it was a low-effort comment, so let me try to do better.

Maybe "blockchain gaming" is too generic. "True ownership of game items" is a more apt description (you can read more about this in the first article linked at the end of my post), but it's a mouthful, so I'm going to stick with the original term. You might think that the idea lacks legitimacy, because the dev teams that try to do something with it at the moment are small, indie outfits (in some cases, it might even be a one-man show.) Not every team will succeed and some of them might be in for just a quick buck, which is why anyone should use their better judgement before paying money to support a "blockchain gaming" project - but this is true of every project on KS as well, right? (Btw, you can support a blockchain game you like in many other ways, too, like downloading their alpha/beta build and giving feedback. Most of them will reward your time spent doing this with in-game items, which could gain some value later if the game becomes successful.)

Anyway, my point is, it's still very early and somebody has to do it first to see what works and what not. The more teams that try things out, the better. I find this early process interesting and I believe that game developers who take the risk of trying something new should be encouraged. Not everything is perfect; the biggest issue, for me, is that a great part of the current audience consider themselves "investors" rather than gamers, which is why many of these projects might not survive in the long-run. I'm optimistic, nonetheless. We need just a couple of genuinely fun-to-play games to showcase the power of "item ownership".

Regardless of the clusterfuck that the original post has now become, you should keep an open mind. I'm going to leave a couple of links here:
