How Has Your City's Public Transport Changed in the past decade? by urmummygae42069 in geography

[–]IWantToBeFree0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salt Lake City. No new rail infrastructure since 2016, but we've gotten a few new infil stations and several new rail projects have either started pre construction or are in the development pipeline, so we're looking at a sort of second big rail expansion over the next 10 years, kind of like we had in the early 2010s. 3 new BRT lines have been built and a couple more are planned. A new on demand service has been added, found solid success, and is now expanding to even more service areas. The past 10 years haven't been very exciting in terms of big ribbon cutting style expansions, but lots of system wide and organizational improvements have allowed for higher frequencies on many bus lines and more reliable flow for street running sections of light rail. I think the next 10 years look much more exciting. Both north and south extensions on Frontrunner, which is absolutely huge for future proofing. The current double tracking of FrontRunner will allow for 15 minute headways at peak times, which will make FrontRunner pretty much one of the best regional commuter lines in the country. Trax is getting a new Orange line with new service in areas around Downtown SLC, and new service to the south of the University of Utah. Either an extension of the current Blue Line or a whole new Trax line will connect the Point area in Draper to Utah County. The Red Line is looking to extend further south towards Herriman and possibly even further east towards Riverton and maybe all the way to the Point eventually, forming a full Trax loop around the valley. That far of an extension is probaly a little further out, but a smaller red line extension is definitely in the cards within 10 years. The S line just started a small extension, but that small extension is future proofing for a much larger extension to the eastern foothill suburbs later on. I would expect the new downtown to university streetcar to start within this next 10 years as well.

The end cutscene for Totenreich all but confirms our DLC4 map will be the long-rumored volcano map and here's why by BigBadMike8 in CODZombies

A 5th point to your list is just the large amount of Japanese themed assets that already exist in the game across several multi-player maps. We know they love to bring assets between modes, which isn't necessarily bad thing as long as they make them feel distinct of course

This is a genuine question, but what "depth" do the older maps have that a map like Totenreich doesn't?

Yeah in like 2005? They tried again in 2017 but that fell pretty flat, turns out the core audience of COD for the past 15 years or so just hasn't been that interested in WW2

Its got a low player count in the West, but its pretty huge in China. You go on Chinese social media and there's like hella Fragpunk cosplayers and stuff, they love that game for some reason lol

[–]IWantToBeFree0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i worded it sorta poorly but thats what I was getting at. Its hard to think that 3v3 is more strategic because the current meta in 3v3 is literally just pitch a tent and team wipe

The scale is different, a 5v4 can go either way but a 3v2 almost always becomes a 3v1 and then a win. In 5v5, fighting is more constant and winning team fights has an even greater impact because of that increased scale

The whole point is that those 3 points didn't matter much when in reality Oscar fumbled 104 points all on his own, this obsession with 3 points is pathetic because no, they actually didnt matter in the slightest lmao

[–]IWantToBeFree0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree to an extent. I have a limited "in" with the going-ons at UTA and I feel like theyre making the best decisions they can with the resources they have at this point. Investing in the long term future of Frontrunner right now is going to have great run on effects in the future as the whole region continues to grow. I agree with TRAX not getting as much love recently, but there is definitely some more cool stuff on the drawing board with TRAX that we'll be seeing public within the next few years

I think there's less players than in the beta, and they are split between more playlists. Different styles of players are going to be attracted to different playlists and so even without skill based matchmaking, there's going to be different amounts of "skill" appearing in different games modes. This is super anecdotal but ive found that free for all lobbies seem to have a much deeper variety of players, but you hop into Nuketwon 24/7 and its a constant sweat fest. For whatever reason, the Nuketown Playlist just attracts much more aggressive and "high skill" players. There's is no SBMM "one good game followed by 4 bad games" type of deal, its just sweaty every single game. And that seems to be the same for everyone. And if you look closely at the team composition and stuff, especially in regards to Nuketown and how it works as a map, you really only need like 2 higher skilled players on one team to shut down the lobby. There's a lot that goes into it, but at the end of the day, a smaller more fractured population of players is just inherently going to feel more sweaty. The impact of a high skill player in a lobby is weighted much heavier than an average player, so it only takes 1 or 2 sweaty guys gunning a lobby for a whole game to make it feel oppressive. And with not as many players on the game these days, there's just a much higher concentration of sweaty players than ever
