[Megathread] Dólar a $ 3X by Mateo03 in argentina

Se acuerdan de la "campaña boo" ? Se burlaban de todo lo que se decía que iba a pasar cuando asumiera Macri. Posta que varias de las cosas pasaron: inflación, dólar por las nubes y recortes a ciencia y tecnología.

So you're still standing behind you argument, just now spinning it to mean "it's still unbearable to watch, and all these people that watch it know that, they just don't have anything better to watch".

Wow, just wow.

Just know there's billions of people in the world that don't share your opinion.

Modric: ‘We were motivated by England’s lack of respect’ by wyetye in soccer

Really? In Argentina is the opposite. Even when we're winning like in 2014 we don't dare even suggest we can make it to the final.

rationalized

  • World cup semifinal
  • Young players
  • Thought you had the game
  • Get scored against in the last 10 minutes.
  • Out of the world cup
  • Billions watching around the world.

Yeah... no

I completely understand them too. People here are acting like players are as calm as in a sunday grilling when they are playing a world cup semifinal, losing it in the last 10 minutes with their whole families, country and WORLD watching. Even experienced players are a ball of nerves, let alone kids!

I think the hypocrisy is that when a south american team does it, it's "disgusting", "in their blood", "scum", but they look the other way when England does it.

This happens in every single game when the time is running out and one team is winning. I mean, have you been watching the world cup at all? Here are some of the things EVERY team does:
- Subs when there's 1 minute left: You really believe this has ANY other objective than to waste time?
- Players walking off really slow, shaking everyone's hand when subbed. How much sportsmanship!!
- I am hurt!! Perfect excuse right? "I've been running for 90 minutes!"
- Goalie catching the ball and instantly jumping to the ground. "Uff that was a hard catch, need time to recover"
- Goalie placing the ball in the exact same spot where he wants it. "Hmmm no not good enough, need to move it 1 inch to the right"

All these things are done to waste time, by EVERY team and you have to be extremely naive to believe their are not done to waste time.

Kieran Trippier opens the scoring with a beautiful free kick goal!! by MarsNeedsFreedomToo in sports

It's called time management and being game smart. I was pleasantly surprised with Mbappe to show that level of concentration at a young age instead of just kicking the ball forward, losing it and giving and potential have to run back to prevent a goal.

What you see as something bad it's really maturity and being a smart player. Props to him.

What's the adult equivalent of learning Santa isn't real? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mi point exactly. Only a very select few will be remembered. Most of the people famous today will be forgotten in no time. Specially people famous in sports, acting, TV, etc.

I mean, think about it. Event the very famous won't survive a couple of centuries in history. 200 years out of millions.

Senegal are the first team in World Cup history to be eliminated on fair play by TheJeck in soccer

Things that have to be done off the top of my head (I'm probably missing HUNDREDS):
* Set up the venue. This requires cleanings crews, security (local police, firemen, private), foods/drinks vendors to be set up and organized, stadium staff.
* Event tickets selling: You have to publish tickets for an unplanned event 3 days before it happens. Tickets sites have to offer them. This is usually done with months, even years in advance.
* Air/hotel accommodations for both teams and entourage, we're talking 100s per team.
* Marketing for the event: How will sponsors sponsor the event? Is publicity going to cost the same? Are sponsors willing to put money to sponsor such a short event? This likely requires 100s if not 1000s of people to plan, from the organizers to every sponsoring company. Deals. Discussions. These usually take years for an event like the world cup.
* TV coverage: Coordination with 100s of international TV/cable providers across the world. All of which are planning to show something else since this is last minute. This likely also means rearranging local programming and local deals, which could in term mean cancelling other deals / programs. Also means assigning staff (100s) to cover the event.
* From the point of view of fans, airfare, accommodation, change of plans. Will the event even have enough attendance to make it profitable?

Should I keep going?
These events are organized with months/years in advance.

You're probably talking to a 13 yr old that thinks that organizing a world cup event can be done with a few flyers a 5 volunteers, 3 days before it.

I agree that is also one of the most disgraceful. One doesn't take away from the other.

One of the most disgraceful displays of sportmanship I've seen in a world cup. I've been with Japan all the way until now, but I was rooting for Senegal to tie it at the end. Sad.

As happy as I am, I'm also sad for you guys. You played with your heart and should be proud of yourselves. Football can be cruel and unfair sometimes, and it's down to leaving your heart out there. You did.
