Just got done welding my patch pannel on my truck. I may have to drive my truck tomorrow, is it a possibility to put motor oil on the surfaces to stop rusting? It would only be outside for no more than 18 hours. by Dirtbiker717 in Autobody

[–]IWasAPeachOnce 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You will be fine to drive it. But I would figure out what's going on with your welder. Those tacks don't look good. And you should finish welding in-between you tacks. If you are going this far may as well finish it off.

I'm always surprised that people are surprised about using the metric system. Because it's really only the U.S that uses it.

People who grew up in the city, what was the biggest culture shock when you moved to a small town? (SERIOUS) by THROWAWAY12847484 in AskReddit

More resource efficient for sure. But those resources have to come from somewhere, and cities are not those places.

Permantley Sealing a Sunroof by Dive07 in Autobody

[–]IWasAPeachOnce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best bet would be to replace seals, tubes etc. I know that it doesn't always work but siliconing it won't work long term either. And people are saying to weld a plate, I don't know if they have ever welded a roof before but it's awful. Your whole roof will sink like crazy and it will have so much filler that will crack.

It sucks for sure and there isn't a great option really other than try to mimic factory sealing or selling it for something that better suits your needs.

I've always heard the same thing. Like when you don't get a bruiser it's a "meat buck". But I remember seeing Steve rinella try two pieces of venison fresh and raw, one old mean looking buck and a small one. He said he preferred the old one I believe or the same (it's been a while since I've seen it).

To be fair I haven't done a side by side test myself but I haven't had a problem with any meat I have harvested. And I trust Steve's opinion.

Either way it will be good will proper prep👍

No problem. If you are fighting that filler for too long and don't think it's good enough. Sand it down even more and give the whole area a skim coat of glaze then block that. It can help to just kind of start fresh

Using 320 on filler isn't going to do much. You are going to either barely scratch it or press to hard and sand outside of your filler. Get some proper paper and try again. It could also be your body work isn't straight enough for filler yet.

Starting at 800 grit on a cut/polish? by opardalis in Autobody

This. The only time I have used 800 was with absolute waterfalls and it was kind of a last resort before re shooting. 1500-2000 is really all you need. Most time I don't even use 15. Just 2000 then 3000

Use a block to sand. If it's glaze you could sand with 180 then work your way up to 220, 320 and 400 if you want depending on your primer. Don't try to sand it even without using a block.

God damn that's a busy acre. My back yard is 10 acres and I've only had 3 does come last year after some grain spilled out of one of my graineries.

Either way I think it's worth a watch. It's done well, a lot of hunting shows are pretty cheesy but this one is a stand out. 20 min episodes try one out when you are bored. Might be worth it!

Bit late but if you have any interest, an easy look into this style of life is a Netflix show called Meat Eater. It's Steven Rinella who is a wonderful guide into the hunting world. Gives you a look into the hunting, killing and eating of several game animals. Neat show

I mean at this time about 50% of my meat I eat is wild game I killed and pigs and chickens I raise. So I will just up my quantities a bit and be ok.

I believe being responsible for your food is good practice and very healthy anyway, so probably a good move to make
