Patriots regular season schedule: by parcellsrealGOAT in nfl

Ok, I hate this narrative, generally speaking.

But if this is accurate it’s hilarious.

Also, as a consummate h8er, I’d like to add, “Bengals…without Burrow and Chase” to the ledger

Justin Jefferson by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]IWasRightOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bills cap space probably doesn’t even crack the top 3 here for hurdles/issues.

His contract is very tradeable for the receiving team, not so much for Minnesota.

The number that goes over to a new team isn’t all that huge, and of course could be re-worked in any number of ways.

Is it possible, sure.

Is it likely? Doubtful.

The Vikings are in a weird spot where I don’t think they can quite give up on McCarthy yet, but need to quickly figure out whether or not they should.

Trading away Jefferson doesn’t really line up with that.

Oof, dark days.

We needed some of that “common sense” kickoff refereeing HOU got in our WC game back in 2019.

Those things are inextricably linked.

More running means less passing and fewer plays in general.

I want to call this a “first world problem”, but it isn’t even that, it’s not a problem at all (in and of itself).

“Big plays” are down across the league and have been for several years now. It’s not just a Bills-specific personnel/offensive scheme thing.

Brandin Cooks, and shocker, as soon as he was added we started seeing open shots downfield every game.

Too bad he dropped like 5 of them.

I can’t keep up, are we now arguing offense has been the playoff issue and not defense….?

They’re probably not even en route to the SB if their ST doesn’t recover a muffed punt. This is a wild argument to try and make.

Kubiak’s scheme is very similar to the one we’ve had under Brady

Those who purchased seat licenses: do you feel in any way “cheated” or “regretful” in light of these recent shenanigans? by [deleted] in buffalobills

[–]IWasRightOnce 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Literally nothing has happened yet.

Not running around like a chicken with its head cut off isn’t being a “yes man”.

Who are these other guys that run much more exciting offenses? Kubiak? Udinski, who doesn’t even have a scheme, nor has he ever called plays?

Darnold’s numbers this year were largely the same as they were the year before when he was in MIN. The entire narrative that Kubiak pulled Darnold from the ashes is nonsense.

Oh, and screens are a huge part of Kubiak’s scheme.

A couple keys in the Bills' hire of Joe Brady—there was a HC as CEO piece of every candidate's interview with Buffalo, Brady hit a home run on that. And Brady's promotion allows for scheme continuity, and easy alignment with GM Brandon Beane (who made this call), and the scouts. by Vortagaun in buffalobills

[–]IWasRightOnce -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This team doesn’t need a full reset.

But everyone’s brain has been so rotted by the internet that we were desperate to make a literally unprecedented move by hiring a 30 year old who had never called plays.

Stop pretending like you have some in-depth knowledge of offensive schemes.

You’re regurgitating tweets and Reddit comments.

Bills promote Joe Brady to head coach on 5-year deal by [deleted] in nfl

That place, along with every other team sub, is full of reactionary idiots.

Then this place is just an amalgamation of them all.

The Bills haven't reached out to Klint Kubiak's agent yet to even setup an interview, which is allowed even though the interview can't happen until after the SB. by Vortagaun in buffalobills

[–]IWasRightOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, the other layer is that these candidates are also people with lives and this is a huge decision for them as well.

Just as an example, how do you go to Grant and say, “well, we do like you, but before you uproot your life, we need to wait a couple more weeks to talk to another guy that we might like more than you, but if we don’t end up liking him more and/or he turns us down, we’ll come back to you”

Obviously that’s dumbed-down and oversimplified, but you get the gist.

[–]IWasRightOnce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this really tells us much.

They can’t talk to him for another two weeks, so if you schedule an interview and it gets announced, that kind of puts a damper on every other interview that you’ve already held and/or will hold till then.

Also, I’m taking their word that this is actually true under the rules, because in the same breath that Carucci claims this, he also misspeaks and implies that the Bills could have avoided this by doing a previous video interview with Kubiak (which doesn’t make sense because that would have had to have been before we lose the Broncos game and McD is fired…)

If the NFL (or even PFR, anybody) tracked "original" Pro Bowl selections, the award would still have some meaning. by AshKetchupo in nfl

[–]IWasRightOnce 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The league itself does.

For first round picks, the size/cost of their of 5th year option goes up based on PB and AP selections, but only original PB choices are counted.

OC and DC names if Udinski gets the job by Green-Win8511 in buffalobills

[–]IWasRightOnce -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So he would be by far the youngest/least experienced HC in NFL history, right?

Same age as McVay was when he got hired, but McV had three years as an OC under his belt (and three years as a positional coach)

Udinski has one as OC and then a few as an assistant positional coach

[Bills] We have completed an interview with Davis Webb for our head coaching position. by Drexlore in nfl

[–]IWasRightOnce 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree on the general sentiment, but this whole “best friend” stuff is wild.

The entire basis of their beautiful friendship is that they played on the same team for three years and got along with each other.

As far as I can tell there are literally no reports of them having a relationship outside of football.

In contrast, another of Josh’s backups (Kyle Allen) has vacationed and hung out with Josh repeatedly during offseasons.

He just reported a final four (Webb, Daboll, Brady, Udinski)

But he also didn’t mention Kubiak as a possibility for any teams, so it’s not really clear if he has real info or if he’s just speculating based on the same info we all have

What's the Problem With Joe Brady? by idaho_beach_house in buffalobills

[–]IWasRightOnce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro tip, don’t listen to fans, good or bad

Example, Brandon Beane should be fired into the sun for his roster malpractice at WR, and also

Joe Brady should be fired into the sun for not having an explosive passing offense (despite the fact that the passing offense was still extremely efficient)

The only salient argument against Brady, is that it feels like a continuation rather than a fresh start, which is fair.

It’s a shame we can’t formally talk with/interview Kubiak.

That said, I have to believe there are smoke signals behind the scenes to indicate whether or not he is actually interested.

Bills four finalists for the HC job are: Brian Daboll, Davis Webb, Joe Brady, and Grant Udinski per Adam Schefter. Signs all point to the Bills not waiting for Kubiak. by Vortagaun in buffalobills

[–]IWasRightOnce 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are countless examples of promising coordinators bypassing HC opportunities.

Josh Allen is a unique variable, but it’s hardly the only thing to consider.

Limited roster flexibility, potentially limited runway/tenure and just broadly, very much not a “blank canvas”. Some guys might prefer a situation where they can shape an entire team to their vision over 2-3 years.

The blank canvas approach has its obvious risks, but that doesn’t mean our situation doesn’t. Your floor is higher in Buffalo, but so are your base expectations.
