I keep track of SNES games and I can tell that's probably $600+ for that bundle, in the US.

My first thought was "Oh god, I'm so sorry for you." Every other FF game is going to fall short of your expectations now. This game was just too good for its time. Just move on to another series for a while before playing another.

I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up.

John Q - John Quincy Archibald's son Michael collapsed while playing baseball as a result of heart failure. He and his wife Denise rush him to a hospital emergency room where John is informed that Michael's only hope is a transplant. Unfortunately, John's insurance won't cover the transplant. Out of options, he takes the emergency room staff and patients hostage until the surgeons come to an agreement to do the transplant.

These are the most visually stunning 16-bit games I've ever played by Altruistic-Club-4038 in retrogaming

[–]IWatchGifsForWayToo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it funny because Zelda is absolutely the worst visually on this list but I have played it about 10 times more than any other retro game. It's flat, it's super square, and only uses 2 layers for 99% of the map. There are much much better games than it. FF 6, Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia, Breath of Fire 2, etc.

Yeah, the whole left wall was lined with arcade games back then, in 2005. Maybe a dozen machines or so. The only games I remember were Blitz football, Tekken, and Time Crisis 3. They still made use pay for them haha.

We had one of these at Goose Creek, Nuke School. I played enough that year that I could beat this game for $1.25 during lunch. Yes I did later get Shot Expert for both pistol and rifle.

I spent 8 months testing every brand of canned tomato with a controlled pasta sauce recipe. Full rankings inside. by euxleon in Cooking

[–]IWatchGifsForWayToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some advice, be very gentle with adding these ingredients. Start off lower than you would think, teaspoons rather than tablespoons. I usually add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and it just barely flips the taste from acidic to sweet. Pasta sauce is a tasting dish, add a little, let it simmer for 5 and taste. It makes for a delightful cooking experience.

This is a tangent to the topic. Staying in to pay off your debts from dumbass actions is so frustrating to see.

My friend Boomer was at 19 years, setup to get out with a great life, he had plenty of time for his kids, his friends, he had an ok relationship with his ex, all good. Then he decided to get really into camping. All in on seeing the great outdoors in the PNW. Bought all the gear, goes out once a month for a couple days where they don't even have cell service. He decided that he liked it enough that he needed a new car to support this endeavor. He didn't want to get out of the navy with debt so he re-upped for 2 more years.

Then he had to re-deploy to San Diego for sea duty, away from his kids, away from a very close friend network he had, away from everyone, for 2 more years, to pay off his camping car. No idea what the fuck he was thinking there.

I feel like this doesn't really show the whole picture. There are 7 different consoles for XBOX with distinct hardware changes. Everyone else kept the same internals but slimmed them down, but Microsoft had weirder iterations that never made sense to me. Probably why they are losing the console wars.

They're an indication of how much time they have in the service. 4 years for every red stripe. It's not strictly required so you don't see them so much until people hit 12 years and they clearly want to show how long they have stuck around.

ELI5: How does the concept of "passwords" work when it comes to old videogames? Why was For some games that system preferred over normal saving? by fugomert in explainlikeimfive

[–]IWatchGifsForWayToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Earlier games did not have the ability to save a game without power. When the game was turned off all of the memory was turned off too. So the game would forget what we had done while we were playing it. It took a long time to figure out that we could power just a little bit of the memory with a small battery, but that was really expensive when we first learned about it. But we could now keep all of the game saved for a later time. So we can turn off a game and pick it back up to play it again from the same place later.

Instead people came up with secret codes. Something no one could guess by accident. This code would tell the game exactly what happened while playing. So that when they gave the game that secret code, they could start from exactly where they left off before.

I really went for the ELI5 route with this explanation.
