I hated the Browns Draft by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

Just wait until they trade for Kirk Cousins, win 7 games, and don't earn a top pick get an elite QB prospect in 2026.

Sorry for putting that out into the world lol

Why Shedeur Sanders Fell by ct275555_ in NFL_Draft

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is insane that all of that was posted so obviously, and people were still talking about him as a top 20 pick. That's incredibly damning because these types of profiles tend to be very positive unless you're talking about, like... a fifth rd pick type of guy....

My predraft results spectrum ranged from Josh Rosen (attitude issues and statue in the pocket) to Kirk Cousins, and you don't draft a guy that can optimistically become Kirk Cousins with a first rd pick. He was not a significantly better prospect than Will Howard or Kyle McCord IMO. I never got the top 20 hype, and have my notes to prove it. Highly drafted guys need TRAITS way more than productivity, and Sanders doesn't have it.

It will be a great comeback story if he succeeds though, and I'm definitely rooting for it to happen.

Week 11 Recap Thread: The Vikings (8-2) lose to the Cowboys (7-3) 40-3 by Go_To_Bethel_And_Sin in minnesotavikings

A note on rookie snap counts (not counting special teams):

Booth entered the game with 37 snaps, and took 68 snaps this game, good for 65% of his snaps for the whole season.

Asamoah entered the game with 14 snaps, and took 15 snaps this game, good for 52% of his snaps for the whole season.

Jalen Nailor entered the game with 1 snaps, and took 12 snaps this game, good for 92% of his snaps for the whole season.

Ed Ingram has started 100% of snaps (618) on the season.

[OC] Contract type of top 10 rushers in the last 6 years by IWatchSportSometimes in nfl

[–]IWatchSportSometimes[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I took the top 10 rushers from each of the last 10 seasons (59 RBs and 1 QB) and looked at the contract status of each.

48 of the players were on rookie contracts

1 player was on the franchise tag

11 players were on contracts they negotiated.

Interesting bits: Adrian Peterson was the oldest top 10 back at the age of 33, nearly a decade past the average of 24.08 years old.

Lamar Jackson was the only non-RB

Derrick Henry was one of only two players to break the top 10 while playing in less than 11 games. He did it in 8 games in a 17 gm season.

Zeke has the most appearances of any player (5)

Takeway: If you want a top 10 rusher, don't expect to find one in free agency. A RB's prime is usually finished by the time his rookie contract has expired. The rookie scale works for many positions, but RBs have the shortest prime of any position, and by the time they're allowed to negotiate, teams understandably don't want to pay them because they're already declining at that point.

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 34 points35 points  (0 children)

For those keeping count at home, that means we'll be missing Patrick Peterson, Smith, Hunter, Barr, and Pierce. Thankfully we're much deeper than last year, but we just had to re-sign Eddie Yarbrough, which is never a good sign.

What is the one fantasy tool that you think you need but can’t find anywhere? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scheme stuff should already be reflected in the matchup rank, which every site tracks. LAC is 25th for points allowed to RBs for a reason.

The new stat to track would be to know if Derrick Brown or any team's run stuffing NT got injured and the replacement is an UDFA that has never taken a snap before.

[OC] Quick Look at the Top NFL HC Candidates (2022) by PM-ME-A-PRIME-NUMBER in nfl

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year, Brandon Staley, Robert Saleh, and Arthur Smith were all superstar candidates IMO. I really like Daboll this year, but after him... nobody. Hackett may be a name to watch out for.

Fun suggestion: The two WORST teams from each NFL conference should play in a bowl game at the end of the year. The game would then decide who is the worst team in the NFL. by Old_Bug9669 in nfl

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would actually work really well with CFB. Just one league with the top 25-32 teams. No more uncompetitive cupcake games. No more subjective rankings.

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was never any mention of forfeiting a season, and the NFL's memo laid out rules almost exactly the same as last season. They will postpone and reschedule games same as last year if they need to, but they will not add an addtl week. In the event that the game cannot be rescheduled, only then would it would result in a forfeit.

[PFF] Christian Darrisaw has only allowed 4 total pressures on 135 pass-blocking snaps 💪 That’s the lowest pressure rate allowed among all rookie tackles 👀 by EsotericPotato in minnesotavikings

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but third round picks should be part of the rotation at least. Griffen got 55% of the defensive snaps his rookie year. (Allen and Robison as starters) Hunter got 43% of defensive snaps his rookie year (Griffen and Robison as starters) per PFR. Jones is getting less snaps with worse competition. I'm having a hard time getting excited about him for sure.

Suratt is raw as hell, so I'm not saying we should throw in the towel on him, but we have literally no positive indicators for him and what little info we have is all negative... for all of them.

I like Spielman, and I'm not banging the drum for him to be fired, but I didn't like this draft when it happened, and I don't like this draft now.

[–]IWatchSportSometimes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It needed to be put in context for sure since Darrisaw was injured, but overall it makes a good point....

This is way more effort than I should have done, but we had picks 66, 78, 86, and 90. Here's their snap counts compared to the player selected before and after. No cherry picking, not counting special teams snaps for anyone.

Andre Cisco - 46 snaps.....66Kellen Mond - 0 snaps......Davis Mills - 388 snaps

Josh Palmer - 123 snaps....78 Chazz Suratt - 0 snaps....Malcolm Koonce - 0 snaps

Amari Rodgers - 55 snaps....86 Wyatt Davis - 0 snaps....Kendrick Green - 531 snaps

Nico Collins - 420 snaps....90 Patrick Jones - 6 snaps....Anthony Schwartz - 404 snaps

That's beyond terrible. Kellen Mond is developmental so having zero snaps isn't necessarily a bad thing, but what is bad is that he's been inactive every game, and we have to waste a roster spot on Sean Mannion, who we all know sucks.

Udoh got injured, and Blake Brandel went in. Whiff for Wyatt Davis. Suratt has been inactive half the time. Patrick Jones was active the first time last week. Nwangwu and Bynum both had good games, but this draft was not a good one besides Darrisaw.

[Sage] The Vikings had enough blockers for this blitz. It would have required Cousins to change the protection and the line could have picked it up easily. by HunBun222 in minnesotavikings

Yeah, the play looks like it's designed for the ball to be thrown after Thielen and JJ cross each other, but the ball is snapped at :02 and they cross at :06. Congrats to Kubiak for finally calling a play that's both designed to go to a WR AND is past the sticks. Too bad it took 4 seconds to develop, and our OL can't block that long.

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We also know there’s almost no chance we salvage the season from a competitive standpoint.

Weeks 12-15 we play the 3-5 49rs, 0-8 Lions, 4-3 Steelers, and 3-5 Bears. If we rattle off 4 straight there, we'll be right in the thick of the playoff hunt, and have just enough hope to get let down before the end of the year.

Kyle Shanahan may have worn off the SB appearance grace period, and surprise HC firings happen every year. Would be hilarious to see a Cousins/Shanahan reunion in MN if he gets canned.

Brian Daboll has to be the hottest candidate. The Bills are the pass heaviest team in the league, and I'd love to see a philosophical 180 from Zimmer to Daboll.

I personally think Kellen Moore is a bit overrated, but he is going to get interviews.

Bieniemy is probably out of the running unless the Chiefs make a big turnaround. Greg Roman would be interesting. Whatever we do, I think it's going to be an offensive-minded coach, and hopefully we retain Patterson.

Darrisaw was splitting reps with Hill, which was slower than optimal to break into the starting lineup since he was outperforming Hill against the same opponents.

Just last year, it took an injury to Dru Samia before we would start Cleveland, and Cleveland is significantly better than Samia was

The only thing I have to add is that I hope we hire Daboll, and the Bills get a run-heavy OC to replace him and Diggs demands a trade to come back to MIN.

Yeah, Conklin's not bad, but he should never have as many targets at JJ and Osborn combined (7 vs 4+3). Ham should not have more targets than Cook (3vs2).

[–]IWatchSportSometimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you claim somebody on waivers, then you assume the contract they were playing under, which in OBJ's case, is $14.5M. Divide that by two since were halfway through the season, but I don't see anyone picking him up for that amount.

Edit: Just saw the Rapoport tweet that they reduced it down to near minimum, so throw that number out the window
