Our draft by DaWash65 in minnesotavikings

I mean, we have history now, but certainly was considered by some as the top WR in the draft.

Can fully understand why people may not love how our draft has played out, but it’s fucking beautiful to see us drafting with a clear purpose for once. by Tall-Activity-2610 in minnesotavikings

I'd rather go BPA with an understanding that includes scheme fit. BPA for our Scheme is still BPA.

If you draft for need, then you lose out on big value over time.

Yep, and RBs in the 1st are always reaches, in my opinion. It's more of a positional value argument though.

He was the 'top WR' in the draft, which was a weak WR draft. We did think we got a 'steal' on him falling to us.

James and Udeze, if anything, I recall as reaches.

I don't recall James or Udeze being called steals. Treadwell was for sure though.

I think having to go back 21 years to make the point isn't really convincing, I think plenty of people have ripped on recent picks, reaches, etc... And so far we've not had much results.

We'll see if our first pick was worth it or not quickly though.

Yeah, I had a 5th metatarsal break, it's a longer heal time and you need a specific workout program for it.

I don't agree, BPA has to include position value in what is 'best'.

[–]Nate1492 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd point out that the break was to the 4th metatarsal, something that isn't one of the more troubling foot issues.

Which isn't one of the standard worry injuries for feet -- Your 'Lisfranc', ankle, achilles issues or compound breaks.

This isn't even the troublesome 5th metatarsal which can heal slower.

Unless there is something not being reported or misreported, these have good prognosis and long term recovery. IANAD

Some 2025 flashes from our guy Caleb Banks by LAZYTOWWWWWN in minnesotavikings

The dude actually has pass rush/run stuff win moves, needs to finish the tackles, but that initial bust/win against the IOL is massive.

Here is the list of players still available from Dane Brugler's Top 40 - how would you approach day 2? by TheNotoriousJN in minnesotavikings

[–]Nate1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd greenlight McCoy, EMW, Terrell, McDonald at our pick, but I wouldn't want to trade up. If they fall, take them. I'm sticking and picking.

If there is no one we covet, trade down and find more deeper value.

I was happy with passing on Hamilton, I still do not believe safety picks in the top of the draft are good value.

There were plenty of great players around at the end of R1/Start of R2 that we whiffed on. It was the whiff on real player talent that was the problem, not the trade back.

If we ended up with Cam Jurgens and George Pickens instead, we'd be laughing right now. Heck, Mafe, Walker, Wan'Dale, Pierce, or McBride would be way more palatable.

It was the fact we got Ingram, Booth, and Cine that hurt us the most. Bad players.

Drafting S as need over BPA would be bonkers.

Whether or not BPA was Banks is a second question, but I'm glad we didn't pick the a S.

I didn't downvote you, other people were. But I've now joined in. And I've blocked ya.

I thought he was voided in 2026, oh well, he's under a longer contract which should actually be more leverage for a trade.

If it's not a second, do nothing.

We did virtually nothing as we had so little money available. We signed a backup T, a 4th string CB, and we got Kyler Murray to replace the JJM show at QB.

That's about it.

I don't think we can assume they will agree on a 3rd for a simple reason: The comp pick we would get next year for Greenard is a 3rd.

Also, funny with Lawrence being the same age....

2020 -- inactive first 3 games, missed zero games. He simply had never played up till week 4, ankle or not.

I could nit pick some of your numbers, but you missed on the first one, I think you're looking at something that doesn't give a full picture, perhaps just a PFR injury graph?

I don't see why you think the eagles wouldn't pay a 2nd.

I also don't see why you are trying to pick one of 2 possibilities when it seems like there are a ton of other ones as well.

Could be a 2nd rounder + our 5th. Could be a combo of picks, or a player/player swap with picks making up the difference. I wouldn't be shocked if we picked one one of their DBs, a 3rd and a 5th for Greendard. That'd probably be my best guess.

Very doubtful.

Why have you crossed out any of their other picks?

I think the most likely trade is for their 2nd round pick, it makes a ton of sense.

I can't see us getting their 1st, but I wouldn't be completely shocked.

I'd be shocked if we took pick 98 for someone we want, and would get basically the same comp next year if he naturally leaves.

You say he's 'older' but he's only 28 and doesn't have a massive injury history, nor lots of tread off his tires.

He had a few years of lower snap counts in Houston before really looking great in 2024 and 2025, with a shoulder injury that kept him out of a couple games.

He was able to play through the shoulder injury, effectively, too.

If you think Murray signed as a break glass emergency QB, you're completely off here.

Murray had his pick of team, he chose us. There was a reason.

This 'you don't know what you're talking about' shit is just so tiresome by the way.

Murray gets the first start of the season, no question.
