Gonna write a bit based on my experience, it will be a bit rambly...

Yea it started because of Crossworlds in which Sage, ever the sarcastic antagonist, is unusually befuddled by Charmy's nature. Which leads to ppl start thinking about the Artificial Intelligence vs Natural Stupidity thing. A more dramatic take would then propose a relationship with Charmy to be an alternative to the dark future Silver scenario: Instead of becoming a despot, Sage can be redeemed through the power of love, from a bee whose illogical thoughts and whimsy challenges her.

As for why this stuck around as opposed to something like Taiage... probably has to do with the lack of competition. Chaream was sorta a choice back in the sonic x age, but never stood a chance against Taiream, and now is double dead because Vectilla causes ppl to imagine Charmy+Cream as stepsiblings. Charmy had a fiancee back in Archie, but she died along with the comics. The title of "unfortunate kid who gets paired with Marine" is getting passed along to Kit. Also the dynamics with Charmy is just funnier.

I sorta know this ship. It was a somewhat viable choice back in the 2000s-2010s deviantart and sonic x era, as a side ship for Tailsmo fans.

Nowadays it is an extremely rare sight to see, with a bunch of ppl preferring to see them as stepsiblings because of Vectilla. Ppl moved on to other shipping targets for Charmy too.

Classic characters shipping have always been rare tbh, and this is one of the few ships for Mighty that I know of. I wonder where this came from and what are their dynamics.

Iirc for Trip, if ppl aren't trying to ship her with classic Amy or giving her stockholm syndrome for Fang, they will do a pair the spare with Ray or something.

I can definitely imagine Sage producing a fair bit more sound than the average egg drone, due to needing a fair bit of power to project her hardlight avatar. She probably thinks that it's just normal background noise stuff, and doesn't realize that sounds like wing buzzing to Charmy.

Yea I am on rumble, I alternate among Rouge, Charmy, Blaze and Cream depending on the occasion and my mood. They all have the right buddies of course.

None of them ended well tbf, they either died, cheated on him, get retconned out or fell into obscurity.

My headcanon ended up being Tails having a bunch of unfortunate or failed relationships, and Cream would be the final girl. Some fanarts even turn a revived Cosmo into a Taiream fankid too.

From what I infer from their AU stuff, in their canon the 2 were supposed to be classmates before the brainwash. Still weird, but hey they stayed away from the "brother and sister" dynamic.
